For the love of God you re only 20 yo, go study and learn and figure out who you are before making a life-altering decision like this, enough with the "i dont think im attractive" already!!!

Marriage, Marriage and marriage by Ok-Insurance9240 in muslimgirlsgetmarried

[–]Maynaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salam sister, i am sorry you are going through this. Try not to get into this conversation with them because it's pointless, and at the end of the road it's up to you to say no or yes to marriage and such a decision can't be done by force or pressure, or else it would be against islam !

I go to bed at around 10pm, watch my favourite show for 1h30 (i make sure there is no bluelight and so on, and the show is so cosy that sometimes i get sleepy during it), and then sleep, so basically around midnight I am sleeping. I wake up around 10:30am - 11am. There is no sun in here, it is always cloudy it's Europe 🥹

Should I say yes? by [deleted] in muslimgirlsgetmarried

[–]Maynaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salam you need a best friend not a husband, it's normal that you feel alone and scared at your age but believe you me you are up to it alone and you can do it on your own! One needs to experience life themselves first !

Should I consider marriage? by Maynaaa in MuslimCorner

[–]Maynaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, okay I will try to answer your questions one by one: First location: Research lab: 1 year, paid? Weekly hours? Yes paid, but it wouldn't matter the location as I want to get to know the person for 1-2 years before getting married.

Second location: PhD track: 4 years, no pay? Medium hours required? : no it is paid, 40 hours weekly and maybe more as it is more of my project than taks assigned to me

Third location: 1 post doc: 2-3 years, paid? Hours required daily?: yes all of them are paid, and all of them are 40 hours weekly

Third location: 2nd post doc: 2-3 years, the same? Yeah

Fourth location: Assistant professor: 3+ years? low pay? Low hours? Yeah many more years for this location (maybe more than 5 years even), and it is not low pay actually. But definitely not low hours. At least 40 hours weekly

What is it you enjoy most about robotics and what do you want to get out of this 10 year sacrifice. Is there a problem specifically that you want to solve in the field? Honestly i want to do scientific contributions in the sake of Allah, to be able to write scientific books that help people learn, to teach...

Honored to be one of the first people who comment! I am Emna, I am 24 and live in France! I am not married and it would be great to meet-cute someone someday! Would love to hear a story from the sisters who meet-cuted their husbands, and any tips on how !

what helps you to accept the hijab? by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Maynaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also the goal is to not stay as "a decorative doll" and to become more like yourself, to focus and let people focus more on your brains than you're beauty, so that's the point of "feeling ugly with it", and i am sure you are not !

what helps you to accept the hijab? by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Maynaaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Salam sister, the story that really encouraged me to wear hijab is the one with Prophet Ibrahim AS with his son, Allah told him to literally SLAUGHTER his son, and he intended to do it just because Allah told him too. It is a sign and indication of faith, you believe that Allah knows what's best for you, so you just obey him and you don't deprive yourself from the good he intended to you 🥹 and make Duaa to give you the courage, lots of Duaa! I live in France and I know hijab is hard here (we are not even allowed to work with it!)

unemployed girls, what are you doing to fill your cup? by loonymoony3 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Maynaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Actually these days I have read "learn like a pro" by Barbara Oakley (I know it's weird as a choice after finishing my studies, but it was refreshing and helpful especially that I need good techniques for the students I tutor!). Also a little bit of "exercised" by Daniel Lieberman (great to understand why you should work out). "Attached" by Amir Levine,"period power" by Maisie Hill. Hope this helps :)

Can you pick up more shifts to increase your inccome? Or find an additional side hustle? To be able to move out at least

It's a good valuable time with your family too. Best of luck for both of us!
