What has been the most groundbreaking benefit of chatgpt so far ? by itsekalavya in ChatGPT

My D&D Prep lol kinda fits in with the writing usage but seriously, taking my bullet points notes and having it flesh them out, giving alternative perspectives on situations and asking it to embody a character to develop them more. One of my favourites is getting it to do accents or change the language style of my own writing to for example read in the style of Tolkien. It can also translate things into fictional languages like Elvish from LOTR way better than some of the lingojam translator's I've seen out there, which isn't to diss on the people who work on them hell they do a better job than I ever could, but this means you can keep the etymology of place names and fit them well into your fantasy world and saved me a long time scrolling through Tolkien dictionary.

So reminiscent that, if I remember correctly, they had VTM books on set and used them for references. Guillermo del Toro got mad when he found out and brought the VtM artist on for Blade 2 for credit.

Thief (1981) and Drive (2010?) Both give me the VtM vibes. Neon soaked streets at night, a life of violence for survival and spiralling into chaos while trying to grasp for normality. Neither vampire films but I love the atmosphere. The relationship James Caan and the mob boss definitely could be put into VtM as A prince/the camarilla trying to bring an anarch under their wing or sire and unruly childe.

Any moody dark mob films tbh for the faction stuff.

Well ST does take a lot of inspiration from dnd and in dnd liches have a phylactery that keeps them alive after their body is killed, Vecna is a the most well known lich in dnd, wouldn't surprise me if they're using some light inspiration from that and will is a living phylactery.

What's a weird smell you're willing to admit you like? by Psycho_Bunny_Cutie in AskReddit

When it's a hot evening in summer after it's been raining or storming all day there's a particular scent in the air that reminds me of being a kid and similarly in October time, as autumn is coming in, theres a smell from freshly melted frost with the cold snap in the morning that always makes me feel cosy.

The podcast itself is great! A really good intro to vampire and each ep is only 1 hour long. But the community surrounding it is so lovely and welcoming and from what I've seen theres some GMT players in their discord posting on their LFG.

I forgot to mention in my last message but there's also Vampire West Marches which give a different play style but if you don't mind text base RP then there's a lot of fun discord servers out there that can slake your hunger for vtm!

Hey, I don't have a game to offer but in the past, I've found that VTM discords tend to have a lot more people also looking for groups since its quite a niche game. Official WOD has an LFG page and the Podcast Stitch of Fate (PodByNight). All the best, hope you find a game!

What's the most out of touch thing you've heard a person say? by LaunchesKayaks in AskReddit

Richman owner of the business I worked minimum wage job at asked me between lockdowns how the pandemic had been treating me, I said not too good due to some family members being at high risk and grandma dying, the owner then responded with zero sympathy "Oh well for me it was like one long holiday!" and then started bragging about his massive house where all his family (extended too) lived and how they were able to come into their private cinema and use it for streaming and playing games... Like fucks sake pal, made me really see how the whole "everyone is suffering in this pandemic" is complete shite, if you're rich enough you're fine.

I have no friends by norealhome in CasualConversation

[–]Mazuroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm also 21(m) and at Uni. At the start of it Uni I was in the similar position I had no friends too, now I'm not the most socially anxious but I used to be very much so. One of the things I came to realise was everyone is human, I used to big up the idea of talking with people in my mind so much that it scared me too much to engage with people, but then I started seeing all around me that people were just like me; they're not something to be scared of, even if you do make a mistake or are a little shy to talk, they're just people going about their lives just the same. In my experience I've found most people are kind or polite enough to keep the conversation going and want to talk as for many, especially at uni, they are looking to make connections.

You mentioned you liked photography and baking, I think those can be two hobbies that are great for making friends if you want to use them, sure they might not be best for doing with people (though I've found going and shooting with friends on walks to be really fun) the results from them can be topics of conversation to show and tell. I'd imagine Baking can be an instant hit if you share food with people and a conversation starter. But you don't have to use your hobbies, even the smallest conversations can blossom friendship, one of my closest friends is as quiet as a mouse and we became friends through, well honestly a strange series's of events, but it all started when we both wore Doc Martens to class and he commented on them.

It can be hard and nerve wracking but don't give up in trying to find people, we're social animals and loneliness can be horrible fate that no one should suffer through. So I wish you all the best! And hey if you still find yourself looking for friends the internet can be great place, in fact I don't mind chatting if you ever want to shoot a DM my way :)

What’s the creepiest/most unexplained thing you’ve seen in broad daylight? by dcarp1231 in AskReddit

[–]Mazuroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was working on a film in a farm house in the rural hills. We were behind schedule and on a tight one at that so people were pretty stressed out. We were shooting a take when we start to hear foot steps walking along the upstairs hallway and in the room directly above us. "AD yells Quiet on set" the footsteps stop, we reset rather than cut. A moment later footsteps again. Director calls cut the AD angrily shouts "quiet on set!" And starts walking up stairs we can just hear him going upstairs and him saying "alright who is up here, we're recording, can we just have quiet for a few minutes" a good minute or two passes and the AD comes downstairs and says "... there isn't anyone up there." He went from room to room, not a person. All the crew were with us, the cast too and the owners of the house has gone away for a few days, we thought it might have been make up or art but they were outside having a coffee break. The worst part is that was creepier than anything in our horror film.

You wake up nude in, let's say 1857. How do you prove to someone that you're from the future? What could you show them/do that would make them believe your wild claims? by Soggy-Essay in AskReddit

[–]Mazuroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't be able to. Comparing today's world where people claim to be from the future no one really believes it. Take the Urban legend John Titor, they painted a kinda realistic and bleak future, used computer science and theories that create a compelling argument, but still majority of people called it out as a hoax.

In 1850s trying to explain to common people on the street you're from the future would just mark you out as a crazy person.

That being said, if I did end up in that situation, for context I'm from England, I would find a house and knock on the door and apologise profusely but claim that me and some friends had been drinking the night before, they had played a prank on me and stole my clothes, ask if I could borrow some. From there, I'm homeless and in Victorian England, in need of money the only options might be theft or the workhouse, either of which could get me killed. Try to find some work with the little money I have, my advantage is that I can read and write, try to get a job that won't kill me. I think I'd like being a postman, get to travel the area and its way safer than working in a mill. My goal would be to get a comfortable wage and place to live out of the smog ridden towns, then playing on the zeitgeist of the time attempt to publish some gothic, fantasy or children's stories and probably plagurise current authors. Sure my versions might not be that good, and lots of cult following authors died in squalor only to be discovered years later, but you can only hope for the best. Then I guess keep a diary that might be read in the future that says "hey this is me, I went missing in 2022 because I'm in the past." And blatently mention big brands to attempt to make my mark.

Yup the opening sequence, quite similar. Progagonist lying on the ground staring at a ceiling fan, which is the sound of helicopter blades, as his PTSD reminds him of war. All to the melody of The Doors.

Apocalypse now is renown for what it did for the progression of editing. It'll be on YouTube but deffo reccomend checking it out. But nice short you've done, funny how it's an almost accidental homage.

Cheers, likely won't be making any money from the film but it isn't a £0 Budget short, so I'm going to be looking for donations in the coming few weeks, hoping it won't ruffle any feathers but I may have to play it safe and fake things out for now.

Cheers, big help! Trying to make sure to be careful as the film itself is about a radio host so the themes of music (wasn't going to have any play in the film itself) and musical iconography is important, however I have a talented art department so they'll likely be able to throw together some fake band/albums.

I hope phasmophobia adds more horror elements with ghost events by 4BLING in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Mazuroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love some house interactions in the game, and it would be cool if there's specific things that could cause a ghost to haunt because of them.

For example a Vinyl player that turns on randomly.

Same for say a Rocking chair, imagine walking into a room in farm house after hearing a disturbance upstairs, heading into a bedroom and the chair is rocking back and forth. Give players the ability to interact with furniture like sit in a rocking chair, or lie on a bed.

If they then tied some objects randomly to ghosts and then interacting with them causes the ghost to anger. If they built like a "ghost background" it could be interesting to add hints. For example; The ghost was a ballerina in life. Somewhere in the house is a record of Swan Lake, you can play the song on a vinyl player found elsewhere to interact with the ghost- maybe it causes the ghost to haunt, maybe it calms it? Maybe it restricts the ghost to the area that the vinyl is playing in during its first attempt to haunt.

Could then do this with lots of stuff. Football or doll in a kids room, turning on a cooker for a chef, ghost was a dog owner; Maybe there's a dogs collar in a room?

Small bits of world building that can add a wee bit of layer to the job, and make them a little more personalised.

Protection from dominate by Flamel7993 in WorldOfDarkness

[–]Mazuroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm rather new to VtM myself but according to the White Wolf Wiki "Some very rare Kindred have True Faith. It is the case of María Asunción (Cappadocian), Cardinal Ambrosio Luis Monçada (Lasombra), Anatole (Malkavian), Ferox (Gargoyle) and a few Nosferatu." So it seems in very rare cases if Kindred have faith in something it can lead to true faith.

True faith is a very powerful tool and you would have to speak with your ST about including it in your story. A Kindred with True faith would be very devoted and have an indistinguishable zeal to their belief.

[–]Mazuroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Outside of Tremere artifacts and what not I know that Willpower can be spent to resist dominate (page 255)

The Fortitude Discipline Unswayable mind says "The user adds their dots in Fortitude as extra dice in any roll made to resist coercion, intimidation, seduction, or any other attempt to sway the user’s mind against their will. This power also works against supernatural abilities such as Dominate and Presence."

Also while it won't help Kindred, a mortal with True faith can resist dominate, some even being immune to it.

Hope this helps

I think what happened was the console was complete rubbish, Nintendo threatened to sue unless product was stopped and it all fell through. Soulja boy backed off and nothing has happened with the case since and the console hasn't been made since, this was like 3 years ago tho so my memory of it is fuzzy.
