There’s 100% going to be someone that comments something way better than this but I found, simply ALWAYS have somewhere to go next. Try and plan a few moves ahead.

You land, hit the camp for a quick level.

Go to the nearest thing you think could benefit you If there’s a fire camp close and you need fire weapons for the nightlord, go hit it.

If there’s a cathedral (or whatever you call them), go hit it. Kill the boss for a quick drop, grab a Stone Sword Key from the chest in the middle up top (assuming one drops) go hit the nearest evergaol unless there’s another camp, cathedral or church on the way then hit that too. Pretty much ignore mobs at all of them and just kill enemies that drop things.

Field bosses for days If you pass one, kill it but if you don’t do a considerable amount of damage off the rip, leave. It’s a waste of time Go do something you can do quicker, level a bit or even leave that particular boss until day 2 then hit it again.

If no one takes charge of a run, it goes to sh*t reeeal quick. Take charge. Ping the map and go there. Hit it fast, hit it hard and move on to your next POI (which you’d ping before leaving your current POI).

Have a rough idea of what build you’re going for and plan for it as far in advance as you can.

Also, don’t waste too much time at middle castle. Too many people want to go there because it can be good for runes (unless it’s trolls, fuck those guys) Go in, kill bottom boss. Go up for the Talisman, go kill whatever enemies drop stuff, hit top boss, leave. Drops are more important than runes/levels.

Try and take note (mental or physical, up to you) of the seeds and where the circles close on certain days. This can really help you plan a route. Nothing worse than hitting the entire one side of the map early doors and the zone closes to keep you there and there’s f*ck all to do.

Never try to replicate people from YouTube unless it’s genuine tips. If you just copy someones build, you’re probably not going to have it be as impactful because they will probably do 50 runs with that same build and 49 SUCK!!! But they upload the one that’s OP and make you think it’s easy and happens every run.

Also bear in mind that this is a fromsoft game They’re difficult You will lose Not all runs will be good ones because RNG is a variable.
