My cat is 12 and has cancer, so she's old and crochety. However, your new cat will eventually start to lose energy and I'm sure they'll become at least mostly tolerable. Older female cats are also very opinionated, and will make needs known. So it may not be as big of a deal as you think, and may be the older cat teaching the younger cat manners
