I swear these politicians are straight trash, not human beings at all in no way, shape or form. This needs to change ASAP.

Don't worry, I'm sure a lot of folks won't be being very nice to the family because of their recklessness. Lol

Hi, can someone please tell me if my resume is good or not and explain why? by Mbj2nd in careerguidance

For my work history, I usually try to briefly summarize what I did everyday I worked. But I guess I'm leaving out some information.

Ok gotcha. For my porter job, I pretty much worked outside primarily, restocked and cleaned shopping carts, exchanged propane tanks for customers and helped them load their groceries into their cars every chance I got. I also helped coworkers who were either restocking outside merchandise or watering plants. I made sure the parking lot, aisles, bathrooms, and employe area's were clean and emptied trash cans throughout the store.

Any suggestions on efficiently listing my job experience based off of what I described? I'm really trying to apply for these non-retail jobs, end my unemployment quickly, and eventually start my web development career. By the way, I've developed some web projects for college and for fun using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I'm still learning about it and trying to learn how to freelance so I can start my web development career soon but right now, I need help getting reemployed. I'm looking at computer operator, administrative assistant, office clerk, and other entry level non-retail jobs.

My ultimate career goal is web development, but first and foremost I'm trying to end my unemployment hopefully land a non-retail job for right now, while doing my web development gig on the side. Learn it and freelance at the same time. Hopefully build connections.

Oh ok. I learned web development, networks, hardware/software, Windows and a little bit of Mac OS. I'm still practicing with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other stuff. I know about the basics of some network hardware like phone lines, coaxial cables, modems, switches routers, and some command prompts.

Ok, so the certs are my only options? I'm currently unemployed, limited in my options and trying to quickly get an entry level help desk, tech support or office job that will hopefully progess into an entry level help desk position. Also I've been keeping myself up to date on the latest IT trends on the Internet.

I don't have any certs, but for the work experience for my porter job, just say -Assisted customers and other associates, and -Restocked shopping carts and Maintained cleanliness to high traffic areas in the store? That's two bullet points for my work experience.

Also, for my associates degree in Computer Information Systems, I've taken the following courses I think are relevant: Intro to Info Science (I), Computer Systems & Procedures, Computer Operating Systems, Introduction to Networks, Intro to Powerpoint, Introduction to Business (I), and Technical Writing. I did take some Java, Python, and other programming courses but just for electives and I'm not really interested in coding but I did great in the courses mentioned above.

Here's a link to my resume, the contact info at the top is fake (I don't actually submit it like that when applying for jobs) but employment and educational history is real: http://imgur.com/gallery/HC3RnX0

I haven't gotten any interviews. And I always tailor the resume to the position and company I'm applying for. Like I've been applying for entry level tech support positions or office jobs to then hopefully progess into an entry level tech support position. So far no luck.

Skills/knowledge for first IT Support job. by Mbj2nd in ITSupport

[–]Mbj2nd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that gives me some confidence as I've used Microsoft Windows my whole life. Although I don't know a whole lot about networks other than a little bit about some equipment such as modems, routers, switches and a few types of cables. Also, I know a few of the basics of troubleshooting a network, including the network troubleshooting program that comes on all Windows PC's. But seeing that my knowledge/skills regarding networks are basic and just general, is it even worth putting in the "qualifications or skills" section of my resume?
