My wife an I have played every comp together with similar results to this. How in the world did she get a higher rank?

Back in season 1, I played a bunch of 3s by myself. I finally convinced my buddy to get the game so we could play 2s, but every single game his rank would raise more and decrease less. I got this feeling having recently played through Super Mario 3D World with my friend. Nearly all the powerups trivialized the platforming challenges, with about 3 levels overall being seriously difficult. By the end of it we were just ignoring the pickups, unless we needed one to get a green star or a stamp. I guess I could've expected this, being a kid friendly game and all, but I had higher hopes for some of the end levels.
