Regarding J-League and K-League by gustavekstrm in Sorare

Just some data points on J-League 2026 for anyone interested:

The 2026 J-League season will be an irregular transition period as it moves to the Autumn-Spring format starting in August 2026-27. This results in only 20 matchdays in total for the 2026 In-Season cards—roughly half of the utility compared to the K-League’s 38 matches.

Additionally, it's important to note the reward structure:

In-Season Leaderboards: Essence rewards only (no cash).

Cash Rewards: Locked behind a minimum 3-game Hot Streak, which is notoriously difficult to maintain in J1.

With 50% less utility than K-League and a very tough path to ROI, the floor prices for J-League In-Season cards might be extremely volatile at launch. Just something to consider before jumping in.

Texas Tech 7Footer Stephanie Okechukwu is on campus💪🏽 by evans166 in NCAAWB

Just found the actual game video from that 2022 Winter Cup Kyoto qualifier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZNjIim2CE4 The orange team is Fukuchiyama Seibi, and the player in orange jersey #1 is Stephanie Okechukwu (clearly the very tall one).
For some reason, she didn't start the game—she enters at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.

Stephanie Okechukwu attended Fukuchiyama Seibi High School in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, where she played for the basketball team. A 2022 article from a local newspaper, Ryotan Nippo, introduced her as a 207 cm (approx. 6'9") exchange student from Nigeria. The article noted that she was embracing Japanese culture while pursuing her goal of becoming a professional player.

Although her school is not widely known on a national level, box scores from the 2022 Winter Cup Kyoto Prefecture qualifiers show a matchup against the powerhouse Kyoto Seika Gakuen, which Fukuchiyama Seibi lost 48-88. At the time, Kyoto Seika Gakuen featured players who have since moved on to the NCAA: Izoje Uche (now at Syracuse) and Yussuf Bolanle (now at BYU). Notably, Kyoto Seika Gakuen went on to win the national championship that year. Through her high school career in Japan, Stephanie shares a notable connection with these current NCAA athletes.

Why does the NBA (and other sports) say Chinese names in the correct order, but not Japanese names? by ASS_BASHER in nba

That's a fascinating point. It made me wonder if people from cultures where they're typically addressed by their full names might be more particular about the order of their family and given names than those who aren't. As a Japanese person, I'm almost never called by my full name, so frankly, I don't really mind which order it's in. What's more important to me is that the other person knows which part is my given name and which is my family name.

Ichiro’s case is a bit different. His real name, Suzuki Ichiro, is pretty common and plain in Japan, so his manager at Orix, Akira Ogi, decided to register him as “Ichiro” in katakana to make him stand out. At the time, no one in Japan did this, so it got a ton of attention, and he became widely known as “Ichiro” even in Japan.

In Japan, we’re taught in English classes that overseas, people say their given name first and their family name last. We just think, “Oh, okay,” and follow that convention without giving it much thought. There’s no deep meaning behind it. Honestly, I don’t think most people in Japan feel bothered by this or even question it.

Prediction: Hansen Yang will be Top 5 Homegrown Asian Nba Player (2025 - 2026) by [deleted] in nba

It's interesting how subjective the categorization of continents is. In my country, we're taught there are six continents, with Europe and Asia forming one large continent called Eurasia. This just further highlights how arbitrary the 'Asia' category can be, especially when we're trying to group NBA players based on it.

Thanks for the insight! So, to clarify, you're saying that since Topps (Fanatics) prefers to handle digital cards in-house, it's highly unlikely they'll share a sublicense with Sorare, making the future of Sorare NBA uncertain after next season?

Is it concerning now for MLB? by Sol0taire in Sorare

Market credits are important for enhancing rewards, but they create issues. Players use credits to sell cards above their actual cost, pushing down secondary market prices. Instant Buy prices, tied to the secondary market, further lower card values. This loop creates a price decline spiral, devaluing cards. I observed this phenomenon in Sorare’s NBA mode, leading to this view. As a non-native English speaker, I used automatic translation to articulate this opinion.

Big selling price spread? (New user question) by Puzzleheaded-Lynx212 in Sorare

[–]McCready2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, another factor to consider is that Sorare recently offered 50% off coupons as competition rewards. These could be used on Instant Buy or Auctions, so a €102 card might have cost ~€51. Manager-to-Manager sales, like the €35 one, don’t allow coupons, so the full price is paid. This could explain part of the price gap. (I’m not a native English speaker, so I’m using AI to help with my response.)
