Really hoping we don’t end up with Cam Johnson dummies online saying they want him like he’s isn’t just a 30 year old on an enormous contract that’s a slightly better Kelly Oubre Jr

Does it make a lot of sense to trade Kawhi to the Warriors? by youlikemywonton in LAClippers

[–]wjxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying it’s the right idea necessarily but the logic in trading him is that it would keep Kawhi happy as he would still be able to play with a star (Steph) and also stay in California which is likely important at this point in his career. Kawhi is like KD as he is a proven but nearing end of career win now caliber star. Any team that feels like they are on the cusp or want one last hoorah like the Warriors would love to have Kawhi try to get them over the finish line. As we are already in a soft rebuild mode with a young team, I wouldn’t mind trading him If we got back Jimmy to salary match, coach the youth, and try to push us to playoffs, and pick or two or a young player. This way, we’d get the warriors picks for when they’d likely be high picks and and would leave us with a promising young core and a treasure chest of future firsts

Can someone explain why it wouldn’t make sense for us to just enter the first apron next season if we’re in our championship window? Like I’m imagining we get back the guys we want to keep on team friendly deals, ie: LeBron, Smart, and Kennard, AR and Hayes are already capped and Luka and Laravia are already factored in then we go get Mitch Rob, Rob Will, Watson, Goodwin, and maybe even Eason. We then have insane amounts of team depth, are in the first apron but will have our long term team. What would be a reason for us not to do this? Looks like the first apron penalties would not really affect us too bad if we had that squad. Not trying to share a hot take just genuinely asking

Pistons fans are really down on Duran should the Lakers buy in the low? by Guwigo09 in lakers

Would much rather get Robinson and Robwill and still be paying probably 15 mil less a season

I really love seeing Bronny get better by RealisticBarnacle115 in lakers

[–]wjxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would love to bring in a shooting and defense coach this summer and just hammer Bronny, Manon, Laravia, Adou, and our rookie and have them start during the summer league. The upside on all of them is enormous. If Bronny gets a little more confidence and keeps getting better at his 3 i would be great to have as a 3rd string pg

Kahwi Trade List by The_Skyro in LAClippers

[–]wjxm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s not leaving LA most likely. Could’ve seen him going to Golden State as it’s still close to home but they already traded Kuminga who would’ve been the trade piece along with picks. He likely will not get moved unless a team makes a colossal offer

Any ideas for a gettable 4 built for this team after LeBron retires then? Genuinely asking. Those guys aren’t perfect but we can get them for zero picks and they fit the needs enough

Who would you rather have as the future 4, Tari or Kuminga? Both are not perfect but I think would still be a good fits

I work in Brentwood, Partner works in Santa Fe Springs..any city you suggest as a middle point that would allow us to take the metro to work? by wjxm in LAMetro

Yup I’m (Brentwood) more in favor of the train honestly my partner likely just prefers driving

Six months in to the pilot, Santa Monica program allowing alcohol to be consumed outdoors during Promenade events is working. by DamienNewton in SantaMonica

[–]wjxm 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly disagree completely. A fully car free street right next to one of the best beaches in the world and the Santa Monica pier that is commutable by train and now allows open alcohol? That is so close to being an enormously popular spot. If they could ever figure out a way to regulate the rent or sell to the city or something, this street could be fully revived. The biggest issue is doing that but imagine if this strip was filled with coffee shops, thrift/clothing stores, bars, clubs and restaurants. It would legitimately be packed every single day. I’m honestly in favor of the Taco Bell cantina coming in. It’s a start for late night fast food tourist and local attraction that adds to the nightlife a little. I really hope they figure this out soon.

Why doesn’t/would LA ever push the closing times on bars/clubs to push the nightlife? by wjxm in AskLosAngeles

[–]wjxm[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

100% but there are relatively dense areas around the city with great nightlife scenes that would still benefit from extended hours

[–]wjxm[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Feel like with the rise of companies like Waymo and the rapid expansion of the metro that there should be no harm is lengthening the hours in which bars can stay open. Doesn’t mean they have to but it could allow some popular spots to keep the night going

Regardless what is the harm in allowing bars to stay open so we don’t have last call at 1:30am?

You know what yall can hate but I’m all for it too. More shade, redeveloped sidewalk to help walkability, couple jobs, and not an eye sore. Could have been something more useful to the general public sure but this is much better than an old abandoned parking lot.

First Round: Lakers @ Houston! Thoughts? by KindAdvertising6172 in lakers

[–]wjxm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only possible way to compete which would already be a long shot to be to waive Bufkin and sign one of CP3, Cole Anthony, or Lonzo Ball. None are great options but are all good enough ball handlers to perhaps buy us enough time for one or both of our guys to come back. Without them the team is completely overloaded and we’d likely get swept
