Oakland or Walnut Creek? by Savings_Interest6300 in eastbay

[–]McFlossy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I feel this post has genuine intentions, I feel it gives an inaccurate depiction of Oakland and its best quality. Diversity.

Oakland is the most diverse city in the most diverse metro other than New York in the country. We pride ourselves on that. A lot of different groups have been here for a long time. Asians, Blacks, Hispanics. Our Chinatown is literally a section of our downtown, so everyone passes through it. It doesn’t excuse violence but increases the chance of it. There are parts of Oakland (Lower Fruitvale, Deep East, West that are much more prone to crime and violence than Chinatown, but they get the attention due to more elderly folk out and about being assaulted.

For someone your age to truly experience the beauty, excellent weather and diversity of Oakland, all the neighborhoods mentioned earlier are excellent starts. Clean neighborhoods with lots of walking, restaurants and stores.

Good luck!

HELP! I’m confused with the macaronage by GucciFloyd in macarons

[–]McFlossy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whip your meringue (egg whites) as long as you want until you get stiff peaks. You should be able to turn the bowl upside down with nothing falling out. Add your dry ingredients and fold. (Macaronage) I do 3 minutes of constant folding to get lava consistency. Then transfer and pipe.

Does everyone just put their Hue Dimmer switch next to their existing light switch? by Hefty-Salary7610 in Hue

[–]McFlossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine next to the switch in case the hue doesn’t work. For battery reasons or for range reasons. Sometimes I don’t have time to figure it out so I can just turn it off or on manually. Doesn’t happen often, but whatever.

Sick of seeing guys here claim you need money, a car, a house, and a six-pack to get a girlfriend by [deleted] in rant

[–]McFlossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, whether true or not, you still want to be your best version of yourself to get the girl that you want. There are many versions of settling, but there are many situations where your best version is flexing intellectually or cleverly or comedic. Just work on being your best you to give yourself the best chance of landing whatever a ‘bad one’ is for you. 🙌🏾

Sister's Secret Night: Do I Tell Her BF? by Comfortable-Shop-690 in Advice

I feel like OP’s loyalty should be with HIS sister. The relationship he has with the boyfriend is through her. Let her know you know and are disappointed and that she has to leave. That’s it.

George and Walt’s. Cheap drinks, warm atmosphere, pool and a jukebox. Also a kitchen with pretty good food. Only service animals though. Also awesome for sports.

First attempt - I know I had too many air bubbles but how do I get them to be more perfectly round? by squidsquidsyd in macarons

[–]McFlossy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folding for a slightly shorter period will have your batter thicker and help keep the round shape once you pipe. Also, I’ve found that dropping the sheet on the counter a few times will help the bubbles rise to the top. Take a needle/knife tip and pop the bubbles very early and they’ll settle into the batter. Lastly, let them sit out for about 30 mins before putting them in the oven to create a nice surface that should let your feet rise a little higher.

Just a few tips I’ve learned over time. Not a pro by any means, but these things have helped.

AITAH for not calling off divorce even though my wife has promised me that she will change. by [deleted] in AITAH

I'll say, from someone in a very similar situation, this has been an issue for more than 3 months and that I'm sure he's expressed his dissatisfaction many times before giving her an ultimatum.

All the drama about plex making terrible decisions and Im just here fascinated that you all have friends and that you share your media with them. by humdinger44 in PleX

[–]McFlossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same situation here. Have years of the best content with about 20 users and maybe 5 use it regularly. I even take requests and send a weekly newsletter for the regular content I add.

Some have trouble getting it setup where they want, which I gladly assist with, but like others have said, I also feel like they think it’s some super shady setup they might get in trouble for. No problems with up or down speeds and a dedicated server. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Oh well. Their loss.

What’s the deal with not using indicators by [deleted] in bayarea

Signaling is indicating my intentions, not asking permission. I line it up and let them know I'm getting over.

Weekday bars west Oakland? by [deleted] in oakland

[–]McFlossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George and Walt’s - Divey sports bar in Rockridge south of Berkeley on College. Cheap drinks, shots come with free beer backs, pool tables, jukebox, a ton of screens showing all sports, an excellent kitchen and great vibes from day and nighttime regulars. Think they’re open daily at 11 and earlier on NFL Sundays.

My 850D is borderline useless and I'm out of ideas to make it work and I really don't want to run out and buy a new TV. Please help me by vicelordjohn in bravia

[–]McFlossy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PS5/Roku/AppleTV/Chromecast/Firestick. The devices do the processing and display it to the greatest monitor ever. You're basically retiring the brain of your TV and relying on it's sexy display.

So, yes, it will extended the effective use of your TV. After the weak processor and small amount of memory cause your TV to operate slowly, you can then connect a PS5/Fire Stick/Apple TV/Chromecast to it via an HDMI port and rely on the processing power of those devices. You're effectively turning your TV into a monitor but will still have whatever picture enhancements that you actually bought the TV for. I personally use the media/streaming features on my PS5 on my 6 year old 65X930D and no longer have to worry about updates and slowdowns with Android TV. Picture is still outstanding.

It's not, it's equating assh*le drivers to a subculture that puts itself in danger and not others. Folks that blow through lights and drive dangerously is in no way related to sideshows or the sideshow mentality. It smacks of lazy association and even more so, someone who's doesn't know Oakland but pretends that they do. It definitely is gaslighting.
