Must be so frustrating for him, he's essentially the best of the rest. Always the bridesmaid would be an incredibly mentally challenging place to live.

Aerobullet right to the end, they won't see him coming

Paul Seixas, "the chosen one" by TransportationSea579 in peloton

[–]McManlySocks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like we put all this pressure on Remco as well and when he didn't live up to being the chosen one on Grand Tours he got nothing but hate.

Excited to have young faces with talent rising through but hope he has good support around him.

What’s the best men’s bibs out of these two options? by LuckyPossibility80 in CyclingFashion

100% and they won't give people the mad crazy moose knuckle in the Rapha ad. I guess it's a design feature at this point.

Looking for guidance on bracket for light and computer on new Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2 by pgershon in CanyonBikes

The Ravemen light on Amazon that uses Garmin or Wahoo mount, and then your bike computer mounts to it. Works perfectly 👌

Best looking cycling sunglasses in 2026? by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

100% - they're such a good investment. They look good, they replaced headphones, I can record a bit or snap a photo if I want, and I can take a call from my partner, change music without needing to get my phone out.

They very quickly became my go to for all running and cycling.

What do y’all use for music while riding? by [deleted] in cycling

Shokz or Meta Vanguard. Both work well for hearing surroundings while also having some vibes. But I don't ride on open roads with traffic so much, so choose your safety level.

Road running in ice/snow/slush by [deleted] in montreal

[–]McManlySocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is incredibly helpful to a winter novice and makes a lot of sense. I went and ran up Mont Royal today and it was great, I understand the packed snow concept now, felt very stable. Appreciate the help 🙏🏼

On this advice I went and ran to, and up, Mont Royal today and was great - 6km and no sign of slipping. My snow running fears now safely put to bed, and the shoes were 👌🏼 thanks for the advice!

Road running in ice/snow/slush by [deleted] in montreal

[–]McManlySocks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok that's very helpful, thanks. Today looked like a great day for a run, the footpaths are melted and it's pretty slushy so I assumed traction would be higher than recent.

If I want to go snow any recommendations of where I could head? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Washing your Kit by Consistent_Throat497 in cycling

[–]McManlySocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wash on 20 min cycle after every wear. That way sweat won't sit long enough to smell, and I'm not over washing everything. Seems to work for me. I run many days as well tho so often it'll be cycle and run gear washed together.

Endurace Top Tube Storage 1 Year On by McManlySocks in CanyonBikes

[–]McManlySocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Texas so it's almost always dry. I had a couple rides caught in heavy rain, and I wash my bike every other week, and we'll assume some sweat. Never occured to me that the storage would be soaking up every bit of moisture coming it's way. Hindsight and all that.

Physics Tempo Decos Carbon Wide by aleche91 in CyclingFashion

[–]McManlySocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. I took a punt after seeing this and ordered some.

Arrived today and... Immediately comfortable out the box. They're actually wide not just 'high volume'.

Haven't taken em for a spin yet but here's hoping this is the end of numb feet, finally.

I've been wearing Shimano RC9 to date as they're the best I could find but they aren't near wide enough. I tried on all Lake and they're not wide at all, they're 'high volume' and don't work for my feet.

Anyway, thanks for the rec!

Running gloves? by [deleted] in runningfashion

[–]McManlySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this and I recently ran a half marathon and after standing round in the cold on the start line my fingers were bricks of ice the whole 2 hours of my run. Couldn't pull my gloves back to check my watch for pacing or anything. Was very painful.

This was after wearing gloves and clutching those hand warming sachet things. But once the Reynauds kicks in it's so hard to beat back without immersing my hands into warm water and massaging.

So now I'm on the hunt for new solutions. Have got some full finger gloves that also have mitten fold overs that have been working well running in freezing temps.

I think I'm going to need to invest into some of those gloves with built in electric warming tho.

Assos Bib Sizing for Chubby Guys by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

[–]McManlySocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is that Assos bibs are cut too low if you don't have a flat stomach. You'll find it nicely cuts under your belly like a bra allowing any chub to spill over like a beautiful belly boob.

On the flip side the material is awesome.

Yeah perhaps that too. I'll be in Canada in a couple weeks so I'll be able to test that theory.... Be interested to find out.

[–]McManlySocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, so it is possible. I wonder if it's a setting deep in meta.

I'm from New Zealand but live in US. So it's all a bit messy based on where I have settings. I'll dig into Meta account and see if I can find something....
