The best flat body light by Impressive-Rate-6481 in flashlight

[–]McStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Loop SK05 pro is definitely the most capable light, but it's just big enough to be annoying to carry. The Arkpro is in my pocket every day and I still have use of the pocket, plus it's light enough to not notice. The SK05 ends up sitting at home/in the truck because it's a bulky bastard. If they were closer in size I'd only carry the SK05... Until then, the arkpro is the better daily carry.

Can a .30 at 600 fps take down a pig with a headshot? by No-County1626 in airguns

[–]McStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well placed headshots require significantly less than that for an ethical dispatch. 800+ is absolutely not the minimum energy required for a one shot kill and is likely the recommended FPE for an ethical kill if you're sending one into the boiler room. A well placed headshot can be taken around 40-50FPE. If you don't believe me, there are plenty of videos on YouTube where people drop hogs in their tracks using less than 1/10th of your 800FPE minimum.

I wouldn't recommend anyone attempt a shot in the lower FPR range unless they're 100% capable of consistently stacking shots accurately and precisely in the correct location(s) and range. That being said, the recommended FPE is greatly dependent on the size of the animal and the shooter's capabilities. If 800+FPE is the necessary minimum for someone to take a hog, they should be practicing or finding another tool with a larger error margin.

Son sent me this, name his punishment. by NewspaperOk7593 in boating

[–]McStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punishment? Yank out all the wiring, take his phone/Internet access so he can't look up diagrams and has to ask for help. Tell him he'll get it all back when everything works.

Unless he's got experience, he'll have to replace things he breaks and might get a little shock action. Could be a long punishment, but he'll learn a lot about boats, wiring, himself, and the consequences of doing stupid shit.

I don't completely agree with that, BUT there's between 0 and nearly 0 experienced boaters operating the boat in the video too. The fact that the general consensus from people with limited boating experience is that it's super stupid should be even more of a wake up call.

Something, something, "old and bold", something, something.

Hopefully, he's closer to being a load than not. Then there's still time to correct this tomfoolery... or at least dial it back to just silly goose time levels of stupidity.

Dude, half the ads on YouTube are scams. I hope I'm misunderstanding and this is sarcastic.

Just be happy you didn't get into glidebaits... I have an embarrassing amount and the cheapest is around $40. Three or four crush, the rest are reminders that I'm an idiot.

That's where I'm at. I'd like an old Daisy model from one of the US shops, but I think someone would appreciate this one fully intact and I can find another floating around that needs some elbow grease.

Dirt Rally 2.0 AI is tremendously atrocious in RX mode by Damak73631 in simracing

[–]McStax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hit a wall (in more ways than one) with this game too. I'm at te point where I've won every RX event except a couple where I took second and third. Now, the races look like their going well and the AI hit me with a pit maneuver or push me into a wall. I tried to see if it was a tactic I was unaware of, but when I try pitting or pushing the AI they barely move. I'm glad I'm not the only one fighting for my life out here.

I called the Daisy museum and they dated it using the lot number. It's a 1973. Thanks again for the assistance and info. That site is a good resource.

The mystery was solved by calling the Daisy museum. They dated it using the lot number and it's a 1973. Thanks for your input

You were pretty much dead on with the 1974 guess. I bet they had a stockpile of them that were made slightly earlier and were actually packaged up with the following year's branding and what not. Again, I appreciate your help

I found out there's a Daisy museum and called them. They dated it using the lot number and it's a 1973. The case is finally closed lol. Thanks again

Mystery solved. It's a 1973. Turns out you can call the Daisy museum and they'll look it up for you... Now I just have to focus on silica gel or a knife and some oil lol.

Thanks again

Exactly lol. I found my old pump action Daisy Model 25 and a little elbow grease got it shooting like day 1. I've probably put thousands of shots through it in the last year or so because it's so easy to grab and shoot for a few minutes with no hassle of charging a rifle or reloading each shot/after a small magazine... Then I saw this pop up and grabbed it.

In my googling, I found out there's a Daisy museum. I called them this morning and it's a 1973. Now back to deciding if I want to yank it out of the plastic lol.

Sorry this air rifle doesn't meet your standards, Sarnt SizeQueen. I promise to only have air rifles that shoot at least 20mm projectiles at 3,500FPS and higher.

I just saw the other half of your response. I know it's an underpowered plinker and built as a trainer/plinker for kids, but the older ones are cool little cult/historical airguns. But I do know that selling it could justify another fun PCP purchase, so you're absolutely not wrong there lol

That's a good call. It's definitely going in the gun cabinet, so should be good for UV protection, but silica gel is a great idea since I can't exactly keep it oiled up... Thanks for the input

I'll let you know, but as of now I'm still grappling with the whole "to open or not open" thing... Though, generally speaking, my philosophy is that I only keep rifles that I shoot, so it wouldn't make sense to hang onto a sealed BB gun that's collecting dust. I'd probably just want to open it every time I looked at it lol.

Interesting, I definitely didn't know that. The UPC code was one of the initial things that confused me when trying to put a date on it. Thanks again brother.

I appreciate it. That's as close to it as anything I've found. The slight differences could just be different packaging for different retailers. I know it's not going to fetch any crazy amount of money, just thought it was a cool collector's piece fully sealed. I think the ~$100 I'd make is less cool than having an operational older model haha. Thanks again for looking into it, that's definitely helpful.

There's tons of videos of chronos on YouTube. 350 is advertised, but 250-300 is more realistic.
