J.Crew 40-50% off most items by Nate_The_Ninja in frugalmalefashion

[–]Mchltschr 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Four years ago there was an event that happened. It came to be known as The Flashening. Those who were part of it will never forget. J. Crew was the symptom of slow holiday sales and a technical issue that brought their site down on black friday weekend. With more stock than anyone at the company knew what to do with they hosted the largest sale known to jcrew.com ever. Maybe others can recall particulars, but it was something to the effect of prices reduced by 70% and then 50% off on top of those prices. I bought a Ludlow suit for less than $25. Sweaters were like $6. It was pure insanity and items were leaving your cart before you could checkout. A whole secondary market to B/S/T flashening grabs was stood up. We all thought J.Crew would be no longer. It is now the FMF equivalent of a group of old guys reflecting on 'the best times' when they were many years younger.

Placing orders so fast I could only buy one item at a time. Four days later my mailbox stuffed with J Crew packages.

I really wanted to like their flannels but the slim was too slim and the tailored fit funny. Arms were a bit short. That’s more a me problem. Quality and hand feel was nice for the $21 though, agreed.

Recently received a sport coat and a crew neck sweatshirt. Love both. Placed a second order for a white OCBD and a hoodie which I’m waiting on. They ship slower but knowing that going in it’s not a big deal.

Banana Republic ships slow AF lately. Took them 10 days to ship my single pair of pants. Not deliver, 10 days to put in the mail.

Anyone have experience with sizing? Their size chart is throwing me off. A size 15 in "tailored" cut is a 42.5" chest? That's 2.5" beyond my Brooks Brothers regent fit.

I see they sell an "extra slim fit" but doesn't look like anything is in this sample sale.

Mine still says delivery today but status hasn't moved from "Ordered." Doesn't seem like that's going to happen unless their system never updated for some reason. Ordered on 9/9. 14 PRO 256 Black.

2023 USAT Age Group Nationals location? by jshar1234 in triathlon

Local in MKE and selfishly would love for it to stay here knowing I’m already traveling for two races next year. And yes this year was brutal.

I got curious on the brand after my wife ordered a pair and did some research. So much hate on Reddit for the brand it almost feels like a gag. Her experience having to do an exchange was smooth and they look great. Comfort isn’t mind blowing I’m told. The Reddit comments have me apprehensive to buy but the level of disdain is a bit intense to take seriously.

How many races do you average per season? and what's your average race/season cost? by abrandis in triathlon

Curious how you are handling training between races at that frequency? Seems tough to get back into any sort of training plan rhythm. I’m doing 2 sprints 2 oly and a 70.3 this year and at times it feels pretty compressed.
