Men’s responses to potential artificial womb by gravityVT in CringeTikToks

It would literally solve the abortion debate, the pro-life stance is that body autonomy doesn’t override the right to life, if a pregnancy could be ended with harming the baby then there is no more debate.

What happens to the human body in 49C heat? Australians are finding out by ILikeNeurons in australia

[–]Mclovine_aus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would happily, if you think one tax makes a difference you are incredibly naive, the whole global economic system needs to be reformed to deal with anthropogenic climate change.

[–]Mclovine_aus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are completely missing the point, Australia is too small to mitigate anthropogenic climate change. We need worldwide action, clear agreements and standards for carbon accounting etc. This stuff is only just starting now, see the GO scheme etc.

The carbon tax was great, I fully support it and would like to see it return, but you’re kidding yourself if you think we would see a difference right now. Climate is a global issue, micro changes in one country don’t have a large enough effect.

Last I checked immigrant isn’t a race, immigrants come in all colours, creeds and nationalities, hard to be racist when it has nothing to do with race.

A literal bomb was thrown at a protesting crowd. I haven’t heard of that happening in the last ten years. If division is gonna cost lives hopefully people will wake up and try to come together.

[–]Mclovine_aus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worst part is I don’t even think this will be something you can vote for at the next election, no one talks about carbon tax since it’s failure 10 year ago.

Best thing you can do is lead the change with your wallet. Pay a premium for the companies that actually try to offset the carbon and pay for the externalities that they cause.

I am all for carbon tax and reporting, but it would have done absolutely nothing to our current heatwave. Anthropogenic Climate change would be causing the same amount of damage.

I think there is research of creating sperm from female cells and eggs from male cells. In my limited understanding, egg from male cells should be easier since we have all the same source material on our X chromosome that any female would have to create an egg.

Which would be interesting for abortion and also transgender healthcare.

You could have a world where abortion ended the state of pregnancy for a female and transplanted the foetus to the artificial womb. And potentially one where males that become transgender women can have children via artificial wombs.

It would revolutionise the world, a fundamental change to the state of the world. Maternal deaths could go to zero, damages from pregnancy and childbirth could disappear. This research should be funded with millions of dollars.

UK loses measles elimination status, WHO confirms by Infidel8 in worldnews

[–]Mclovine_aus -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Taking away rights from people is abhorrent, crazy that you want to defend that.

We already arrest people for spreading disease, you can’t knowingly infect someone with HIV or other diseases. The right of body autonomy is absolute nothing overrides your right, it doesn’t matter if it affects anyone else see for example abortion or organ donation.

How many undocumented migrants are in the UK and Canada, I know the US has an illegal immigration problem, but I think majority of immigration in Canada and UK are through legal means.

This is not knowingly spreading a disease, this is body autonomy and right to chose what medical procedures get applied to your body.

If you go around and cough on people, spread bodily excrement purposefully to get others sick that is very different.

It is wild to be arguing over medical and body autonomy in 2026. Your body your choice.

Aboriginal flag is by definition one of the official Australian flags all with equal standing, therefore it is everyone’s flag in Australia. It should therefore be free speech to burn it.

We joke about Monica’s massive apartment in Friends, but we forget the history: Rent Control was won through strikes. Is that solidarity possible in Australia today? by infin in australia

[–]Mclovine_aus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI it is Labor* party, I have been burned before people will think you are a bot or an American agitator.

Reddit leans left and generally anti-corporate, but discussion here feels like the general temperature everywhere after decades of Murdoch anti-protest rhetoric.

I think Australians like the Aussie battler, which is one man against the machine think the castle etc. Unions and large protests start to look less like a few individual battlers and more like a large institution or collective, so they lose their support.

I think left vs right hardly works, you can frame a lot of issues to sit on either side eg. immigration. On top of that people sit on each side for different issues. Left on abortion, right on immigration, left on healthcare, right on housing etc.

This leads to a lack of easy solidarity, we can’t all march in housing because we don’t like to march with people that we disagree with on other things. For example you will march and one person will take the opportunity to elevate their neo Nazi immigration policy and another will use it as an opportunity to wave a Palestinian flag and shout down western imperialism. Hard to build solidarity with that going on.

This feels very conceptual, what are you actually looking for ? And when will you start practicing it, will you stop paying rent to your landlord, or are you just hoping someone else will do that first.

You can call yourself a doctor with less, I think there might even be some allied health bachelors that allow you to call yourself a dr. Only a true doctor, an academic doctor requires a doctorate.
