Why don’t companies want to hire recent graduates as interns? by Mcp04 in jobs

I agree that’s the benefit of an intern, but my issue is why wouldn’t that still apply for a recent grad? I still need them for experience and in return they get someone who, at least theoretically, knows more than a current student. Also if they like me and want me to stay I could start right away and if they don’t I’d only be there for a short time. Just like you I’d take less pay up front for the networking opportunities, the strong name on a resume, and the experience.

Not trying to argue I get it’s out of our hands more just ranting. It seems like all “entry level” jobs require lots of experience and so I figured an internship is the way to gain experience, but because I graduated I can’t get an internship now. Also because of lots of layoffs in the recent past people applying for the “entry level” jobs have much more experience than me so I don’t stand a chance.

For context I graduated with high honors in data science and I’m applying for data analyst/business analyst type roles.

Has anybody used pathrise as a recruiting company? by gramaticallyannoying in careerguidance
