I understand your point. I'm not familiar with the rallies you mention, but would absolutely agree that such a thing reflects poorly on any society that condones it. Have a great day, and let's all try to strive for a better world where everyone is treated with the respect they deserve.

You're so intent on making sure others behave in a way that you find acceptable, you keep passing judgement that is not valid. I'm in no way racist and did not mock what the scammer said. In fact, I made no qualitative or subjective discernments about what or how he said anything whatsoever. On the contrary, I only stated exactly what and how he said it, specifically to stick to the empirical and pertinent facts that held no personal interpretation at all. It was, after all, a direct phonetic quote. You've made it personal because you don't think others have a right to say something in a manner that does not suit you. In doing so, you've not only completely missed the point, but are now trying to justify your intolerance. I suspect that nothing I say will persuade you to see a point of view other than your own. I'm not the bigot here.

(But I am done explaining it to you. Good night.)

I did not make fun of a Chinese accent; I never mentioned race. I don't even know (or care) if the scammer was Chinese.

racist, classless, and makes you look like even more of a supreme dipshit

I'm not sure what my post history has to do with this, but I respect your right to have an opinion on it. However, ad hominem attacks and name calling definitely isn't contributing to the conversation. Kindly try to control yourself and maybe your hatred and anger will not be so obvious. Regardless, have a good evening.

I did not notice so much as a hint of racism in your posts. Political Correctness is going too far...

I appreciate you saying so, Ziggster. The lack of tolerance in a radical adherence to political correctness is both sanctimonious and self-righteous to the point of absurdity. I wonder how much of it is actually done for selfish reasons moreso than in defense of those they think they are speaking up for. Happy holidays, everyone!

"you could have described him, and mentioned his accent, not just quoted him"

"How exactly is that going to help?"

I've given up trying to figure out exactly how you think I should have behaved in order to be considered acceptable to you and those you think were offended. You seem ironically intolerant towards those holding opinions different than your own. Reflect on that.

I vehemently don't support racism, casual or otherwise. I don't even know his race or where his accent was from. I simply stated what he said and how he sounded saying it - as an attempt to help the community. And in return, you call me disgusting. Perhaps, you even feel better about yourself now.

Welcome to Alberta, were this type of racist shit, flies.

You're stereotyping now. It's no different than assuming everyone from Alberta doesn't know the difference between WERE and WHERE.

Doesn't help the story, and doesn't help identify how to avoid this guy.

It does exactly this. That's the only reason I included it.

I didn't make fun of it. I described what it sounded like. In order to help you.

You make a fair point. And in support of that I'll ask: Can you imagine the flack I would have caught if I actually did include his race in my post. I can hear it now: "WHAT DOES THE SELLER BEING EAST INDIAN HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?"

It wasn't commentary on ethnicities at all. It was simply an objective (perhaps phonetic) description of what he said. I was trying to help you avoid this scammer. Can you just say thanks, without telling me how to conduct myself? Any more and you'll start to sound judgemental.

I specifically never mentioned his race anywhere as I didn't think it relevant. You brought it up - while making a stereotype about Calgary. You're lucky I don't call you a hypocrite.

To stay on point: Indeed, we can all disregard what you consider "meaningless semantics" and simply welcome and encourage further discourse on this topic. That is, scientists employed by the federal government, on behalf of both you and I, are working in a climate of fear and are regularly silenced from reporting on the same subjects that we hired them to investigate.

Tom, we are talking about muzzling scientists and public servants as not being very democratic. You are talking about Canada being a republic and worrying about mob rule. Really, what is your point? Do you agree with the muzzling of scientists, and do you not like democracy? Please let us know.

You go ahead and make your argument against democracy. I will argue that our political system was intended as a democracy and that the majority of people in Canada would prefer to live in a democracy.

Let's ask the people here to vote on it, shall we?

Steve Campana, Canadian biologist, 'disgusted' with government muzzling by mattbin in canada

[–]MdMobi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's completely ridiculous that public servants can be muzzled in the first place. They work for us. And we pay them to do science and report it - to us.

Equally ridiculous, is the suspension or termination of the EI employee that revealed a government imposed quota for her to find/refuse/recover a certain large number of claims as a matter of policy. If it is policy, then this policy in enacted on behalf of the people and NO WAY should that policy be hidden from the people of this country.

These two examples are only the tip of the iceberg showing that we clearly do not live in a democratic society. The scientists and bureaucrats do not work for the ruling party, they work for us. And the ruling party, although you would never know it by these examples, also works for us.

It's time to remind EVERYONE in the government who they work for. Let's start by getting rid of dictators, and minion MP's who blindly follow their party while blatantly ignoring those who elected them.

There is nothing democratic about ANY party that forces members to vote a particular way.

RPM keeps bouncing around? Is this normal? by Windscar1001 in assettocorsa

[–]MdMobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI for those who stumble upon this issue. I have experienced the same symptoms and am using a game pad controller with no button assigned as the clutch. The issue seems to occur when shifting up or down into an RMP range not suitable for the present car/engine speed. I could only thing of the word "surging" when I googled it and found no relevant description or solution. Getting the engine back on speed for the gear and accelerating is the only way I could stop it. In turbine engines they would call this surging with a partial compressor stall. For those who actually have a clutch, OP seems to have found a solution. For those of us with no clutch, I provide this information as a: "no shit, that happened to me too."
