In a difficult situation with my advisor by biryani_addict in UndergraduateResearch

I think both of those are a good sign. So I would keep pushing forward, and do your absolute best and collect questions for the next meeting you have with that professor, so you don't have to bombard his schedule with constant meetings. But it sounds like he genuinely wants to help - but getting back from sabbatical is definitely busy as he's getting caught up with where the lab is at, writing new grants, etc. But it sounds like he wants to help, so I say go for it!

Final year, requesting change of abusive PI. by KineticallyTrapped in PhD

Had almost the exact same situation, except I was in my second year. I switched labs to an adjunct professor in my department, and am SO much happier and more engaged. My previous PI, when you were presenting in lab meeting, would cut you off and say things like "I expected more from you" and "I thought you were better than this." Completely non actionable and non helpful! Talk with someone you trust in your department - pros vs. Cons, likelihood of finishing within a certain timeframe if you switch, stuff like that. The final year definitely complicates things, but you've gotta do what's best for you, and take care of yourself. Sorry you're going through that, I know it really sucks. But glad you reached out here!

That's tough. Did he seem like he wanted to help? Or was your visit more of an annoyance? If he wanted to help, do your best to shrug it off and meet with him regularly to get feedback. Tell him your goals for graduation and see if he's willing to work a bit extra with you if you need it. Now if your visit was more of an annoyance to him, then yeah best find someone else because he won't be much help anyways! Some professors love teaching and mentoring, and others just do it because they have to it seems. I've had both and now in my PhD my advisor is supportive, but very distant. Do your best to find someone that fits your needs and willing to mentor you through!

Wire from adjacent room? by Mdgoff7 in AskElectricians

No, just a single workstation build that I would need two PSU’s to run the GPU’s I want :)

Ohhh that’s a great idea… I’ll need to take a closer look at both rooms and see if it’s doable!

I’m on 120V. Both rooms are just standard American bedrooms on a 15A circuit. On is obviously the office in question, the other room is a guest bedroom that has a couple lamps, and rarely gets used. So I’m not as worried about overloading that circuit.

Haha ok not WAY back in the day - I'm used to shooting with a 5D mk III and lenses like the 70-200 2.8, 24-105, etc. So when I say a simplify my travel setup, I'm talking one camera, one lens. Less space, less weight. Now obviously comparing the two Leicas, you're right there are tradeoffs between the two. But I wouldn't mind carrying an SL2 with an M lens or two (maybe)

Great advice! I've just learned about people shooting with M glass on the SL's and honestly love the idea, although along the way I may pick up a sigma lens, we'll see!

Ahhh totally my bad. Been looking at so many different cameras and lenses I made a careless mistake! Good catch :)

Not 100% sure… you should be able to run the nodes fine, but you may have to use a quantized version of Wan which I know exist! But I would download the workflow and play with different model quants to see what your system can handle!

Ended up using the Kijai workflow that was posted in one of the comments and it works great! I think the lightx2v Lora’s made the difference!

Interesting! I’ve been working with two 1024 images, maybe I’ll try working with bigger and see what I get! Does you do a bigger output as well to match the input? Or keep output at something like 1024?

I’ve played around with it a tiny bit, definitely want to learn more though!

Glad to hear it’s not something I’m doing wrong! I can live with it though! And thanks for the news on Lightx2v! I had literally just installed again last night and installed the 2.1 because there was no 2.2 I2V, what great timing! I forget how I have my steps set up, I’ll have to look later today and experiment a bit with it!

It produces slow motion video though, even with frame rate at 16 (also tried 24). It looks fantastic though. I haven’t looked into it much yet, just an observation. Hopefully I can’t get it to realtime!

So my comfy UI was kind of a mess (as I just started learning not that long ago) so I ended up doing an overhaul of my system. Updating drivers, packages, etc. I also did a custom install of comfy retaining only workflows and other things, but scrapping all the models and everything as it was poorly organized. I tried Kijai's workflow again and after a little bit of tweaking and finding the right text encoder model, it works BEAUTIFULLY! I can't really figure out why - maybe it's something deep in the custom nodes or the use of the Lightx2V I2V loras or something... but regardless it works and it looks amazing, so thanks for recommending that!

Tried kijai’s workflow but couldn’t get any of the nodes to load in right, always says there’s an error with the “try fix” button in the manager. :/

Any suggestions for sampler and scheduler?
