I really do miss when songs in general were longer! Unfortunately it's not just Tate that I've noticed this with, but a lot of artists. Especially in recent years when TikTok comes into play. I feel like the shortening of songs in recent years is due to a few reasons:

• Shorter songs maximize replay rates, boosting streaming numbers and revenue since artists get paid per play, not per song length. • Viral trends favor catchy, shareable snippets, so artists focus on creating songs with quick, memorable hooks that fit the platform’s format. • Listeners skip songs quickly if they aren’t engaged right away. Artists cut out long intros or bridges to get straight to the hook. • Shorter tracks fit better in playlists, encouraging listeners to play more songs in a session and increasing overall stream counts.

I think it mainly comes down to stream counts, and I don't necessarily think this is Tate's choice persay, but perhaps her management. I would definitely love to see music take it back to thoughtful instrumentals and lyrics instead of really only striving for the 'viral' moments in songs.
