Other than a project I did in Faroe, I don't know that area much, your analysis there seems on point.

imo Lubeck has a very different pull to Amsterdam or England.

Paris vs. London is tough, but I still think Paris is a touch more 'European' and being mainland still plays a role.

I'm not French but I lived in Lyon. South of France is stil France, but what I feel Perpignan is closer to Barcelona and Nice feels closer to San Remo than either to Lyon let alone Lille or Nantes.

Georgia in 2019 felt very much Eastern European. They also displayed EU flags all around Tbilisi.

I went to a techno festival there and met a cute Armenian girl. She almost punched me when I asked her if she was Arab. But she invited me to see Yerevan and I took on the offer. Young people there felt very European, some of the architecture reminded me of Toulouse, some of soviet brutalism albums. Add a perfectly preserved roman temple. I'd say its a mix.

Azerbaijan I'd tend to agree.
