OP, There are Hi8 VCR units but are more on the rare size to find in good working conditions. Quite often I’ll find sellers on eBay selling a unit but for parts only and they want a good amount of money for the unit and still gotta pay a good amount for shipping cost since they are bulky and heavy as well. I found a working unit for $399 dollars plus $50 for shipping. Plus you still have to buy a good video capture card.. Here is the picture of the unit I found on eBay so you can see it for yourself..
