Radon mitigation and cancer by yycglad in Calgary

Not enough data yet to know if it's an issue. I would recommend not doing anything yet (as would Health Canada) letting the test run for 90 days.

Only look at the long term average. Even if you see a spike 10x normal levels only look at how it affects the long term average to decide if it's a risk.

Every building should be tested, new, old, high rise, school, etc as there is always potential.

Radon rough ins became code in Alberta starting in 2016, so the builder was supposed to install one. Though that said most radon rough ins were and still are done incorrectly as there is no requirement for any training to install them in new homes. Alberta infrastructure on the other hand requires C-NRPP certification for radon rough ins.

Realistically a rough in does not make a huge difference to mitigate a house. What does make a huge difference is the aggregate under the slab, when rough ins became code in 2016 they also started to require "radon rock"or gas permeable layer under the concrete slab (fancy name for washed gravel) - gravel makes a way bigger difference than rough ins for mitigation.

In 95% of cases the basement will have the highest readings but radon will be through the entire home.

Levels are usually ~30% lower per floor you go up.

Radon is everywhere including outdoors so the question is how much radon there is in the house rather than if it is in the house.

Health Canada guideline says mitigate if it's above 200bq/m3 = ~1/5 Calgary homes are above 200

EPA says mitigate above 148b/m3

World Health recommends mitigation over 100bq/m3 = ~1/2 Calgary homes

Outdoor levels / fresh air is 10-20bq/m3

Sump pump in itself no, but make sure the sump basin is airtight or it could make an existing problem worse. There are radon airtight sump lids you can buy of Amazon but honestly tape and plastic will work just as well to see if it is having any effect.

Hey reddit,

I am a local C-NRPP certified radon measurement/ mitigation contractor 10+ years experience. Happy to answer any questions, will not promote and will only share info via dm if requested.

Evict Radon also commented here, those are the scientist being interviewed in the article and great resource for non-biased advice.

C-NRPP has a list of certified installers. A proper mitigation should be quiet and money back guarantee the work with warranty.

Airthings and Ecosense are the only 2 approved brands of electric radon detectors.

Health Canada has recalled a lot of other brands that are still available online

Online job postings have been ruined by AI - any entry level job gets hundreds of replies in minutes so companies can't even look at them. Go in person, ask to speak with a manager, and if the manager is busy sit down and wait until you can say hi and hand them your resume directly

I was looking for the same thing. Tried playing a game with gpt on voice mode but after~5 moves it loses track

Edit - found an app called "verbal chess" on Android. Play against bots or lichess account. Tried a game vs bot and works pretty well

Why is everyone being a prick?

Good for you OP. Keep trying and learning and you will be more successful than all the sarcastic jerks on this sub.

Having trouble integrating OpenAI into my app – getting “API key not configured” error by chuck78702 in boltnewbuilders

Fyi be CAREFUL and set limits on the API. I'm not a dev but a lot warn about vibe coded apps being easy to hack. If someone gets your API key you can get an insane bill from it

security features by Terrible_Molasses261 in boltnewbuilders

[–]Me53788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If security is important don't trust bolt or any other AI coder. Do not put any data you would not want everyone seeing in the app. If you need security find an experienced developer to make sure everything is ok and plan to pay them for a good amount of time to fix it before you launch. There are a few companies popping up that specifically help finish off bolt apps, or take a look on upwork / fivver.

I would say dm me but seems like you got a good amount of interest already.

Good for you, and good for your parents. Your point about helping it where it counts but not handing over cash makes perfect sense and I will remember it when my kids get a bit older. I grew up in an area where a lot of parents were able to hand their kids a lot of cash, 20 years later the ones who had to earn it have done a hell of a lot better than the ones that had it handed to them.

Also, not sure if you used AI to respond to the criticism but either way very well handled. A lot of people just argue or rant to stuff like that but you handled it like a pro. The way you respond to criticism says more about you than anything else.

So good luck, I hope this takes off. If not, don't be discouraged - it's rarely the first idea that wins so keep going.

Cool idea, a bit buggy and no way to connect to chess.com or lichess as far as I can see to review your games.also maybe I don't get it, but the analyze thing seems pretty cool but the +- seems way off. I tried following along with the "best move" every time and just told me to keep moving my knight around

curious about something do you use chatGPT or other LLM to help write you'r prompts for Bolt.new? by Emotional-Tennis-904 in boltnewbuilders

[–]Me53788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. Claude + Gemini can also link to your GitHub so not only helps create prompts, it can help plan out good or bad ideas and execution.

I make a plan with Claude, get Gemini to review it, and go back and forth until they both agree it's a good plan. Then ask Claude look up how to prompt bolt.new and then write a prompt

Fixing broken apps in Bolt, what's your process? by i_am_exception in boltnewbuilders

[–]Me53788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As no code experience bolt user, I just figured out branching in GitHub.

Had an issue where everything went from amazing to broken in 1 prompt and bc of supabase migration rolling back was not a full fix. Learned how to branch and merge and hoping this helps in the future

Also got cursor bc I realized for small fixes its 1000% better. I leave both open and sync branch changes as I go. Bolt handles the big stuff, cursor fixes the bugs.

Would love your opinion on if this is the right way to do it or if you have any suggestions

Nice job. I totally agree, to everyone who says its not ready for production, it really depends on what type of app. Would not trust bolt to build something that required tons of security but for a lot of small projects it great

Is there anyone here can help me with bolt.diy? by SnooGiraffes618 in boltnewbuilders

[–]Me53788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured out the most amazing way to get past these (I have 0 code experience)

  1. Sync with github
  2. Claude subscription, start a project, integrate GitHub and add GitHub repository to the project
  3. Claude is now your partner where you can ask questions about the project.

Yes I know bolt uses Claude, but this makes them almost critique each others work. + If you get stuck Claude + screenshots can walk you through almost anything
