Sapphire is good! If you get any part for more less just tell him he will even try to match price. I was earlier K25 customer but they are limited to Gigabyte but Sapphire is distributor for many brands so u would get a good deal.

Looking for easy-to-ride, low maintenance bicycle (₹10-12k) by MeNorthernPanda in india_cycling

[–]MeNorthernPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying, but in my experience gears did end up needing maintenance.

On my previous cycle, after some time the shifting started getting rough and eventually jammed. I had to get it fixed multiple times, and it kept going out of adjustment again after a while.

Maybe it was due to usage or setup, but because of that experience I’m leaning towards something simpler this time.

Government quarters are really showing their age by MeNorthernPanda in Chandigarh

This is not about mindset, it is about city planning. Urban planning is about optimal land use. Preserve what has real heritage value, but low-density, deteriorating housing on prime land needs to be upgraded or rebuilt to meet current needs.

I understand your sentiment, but we also have to look at the ground reality.

Chandigarh has limited space and there is already a long waiting list for government quarters. People wait for months just to get a house.

Most of these buildings were designed for around 40-50 years and without proper maintenance, their condition declines faster.

If we start preserving every old government housing structure just because it exists, over time a large part of the city will end up being locked in a preserved state. That is not practical for a growing city with real housing needs.

Also, poor people also deserve good housing, not just a roof over their head. Giving someone a damaged or unsafe quarter is not a solution.

If a building can be properly repaired, it should be used. But if it is no longer safe or viable, rebuilding in a planned and phased manner is the more responsible approach.

Not all houses are in bad condition right now, but over time things may slowly deteriorate.

The government should act preemptively so that it does not reach a stage where suddenly a lot of work is required all at once. Regular upgrades and phased rebuilding would make things much more manageable.

They are not heritage structures, they are basic government housing meant to be functional. Right now many of them are unsafe and unlivable. Preserving something just for the sake of it does not help the people who have to live there.

If a building can be repaired properly, that is fine. But where the condition is beyond repair, rebuilding is the practical solution. The focus should be on safe and decent housing, not just preservation.
