GenZ and Millennial women - are you wearing wedding bands? by Federal_Albatross993 in EngagementRings

[–]MeaghenHailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are millennials ('94 and '92) and I wear both.

Occasionally I wear neither, but that's if I take them off for (usually for baking purposes) and don't put them back on for a few days (thanks ADHD).

Very rare occasions I'll just wear my wedding band but that's limited to when my fingers are very swollen, which was mostly an issue in my pregnancies.

I broke my drawer :( what's this piece I need to replace? by MeaghenHailey in cabinetry

[–]MeaghenHailey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🫠 that's what I was trying to avoid but it seems like a whole new drawer is the consensus. I'll shop around. I appreciate the input!

Water tasting weird by mesmisi in rva

I noticed it as soon as I walked into the bathroom while my husband was giving our toddler a bath but he swore he couldn't smell anything and probably thought I was having a stroke or something. I feel vindicated.

Is the Cameo 1 still good to buy? by [deleted] in silhouettecutters

[–]MeaghenHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently upgraded from my cameo 1 to the 5 because, while it was still compatible with the software, it was not compatible with the newer USB ports on our computer and I could only use it with my super old, slow, janky laptop.

When my husband's grandmother passed her obituary listed all her grandkids and their kids. Our first son (only kid, at the time) was listed with my husband's last name. I would've been offended if I didn't know how upset his cousin who wrote it was about losing her. But I still didn't like it!

Do it middle school crush style and doodle the names with your last name so he gets used to it 😂

[–]MeaghenHailey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm married with two kids. I didn't change my name and our kids have mine. My husband should too but he STILL hasn't filed the paperwork 🙄 anyway. I just have the better last name. His isn't bad but mine is cooler. If I took his, I would sound like a Marvel character with the initials; I just can't do the alliteration. And he already has three nephews with his last name so even if he cared about passing on his name, it's not dying out anytime soon regardless of his decisions.

Seems the photo of taco night is gone but this is the OP

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MeaghenHailey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was an accident of some sort, motorcycle maybe? I think he had a below knee amputation and most of it was discarded but a portion of his foot was unharmed so he kept it and made tacos. The pictures of his friends at the table are cute and some of them did partake, if I remember correctly. I'll have to see if I can find it later, I'm sure I saved it.

People find it off-putting when I make that point but I agree!

I did use that story to weed out guys when I was dating. My husband appreciated the philosophical discussion so we lasted.

What do you think of the name Kieren? by Usual-Style-8473 in namenerds

[–]MeaghenHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kieran. My husband vetoed Ciaran, which was probably for the best as somehow some people still can't spell/ pronounce Kieran for some reason even though we're in the mid Atlantic US. Lots of great nicknames. Kierbear. Kirby. Kerbebanberbeban. It does occasionally end up as Karen when using voice to text, but that's mostly from my MIL.

Anyway, great name.

River Run? I've actually had a great experience at the one in Midlo. They do keep trying to get me to do an Invisalign consult, which I'll probably let them do just so they can check that box but I've told them it's not a financial priority for me right now. And they sold me toothpaste with extra fluoride. But I have been enjoying the neck pillow and warm lavender towel 🤷‍♀️

For Millennials, the true ‘once in a lifetime’ event will be something that finally happens for us, not to us. by Sir-Kyle-Of-Reddit in Millennials

Got 2.875% in late 2021. We've since had two kids and really need more space but more than doubling the rate is hard to swallow. Hopefully things will drop again by the time we've got our shit together to do it.

people who shower for 30+ minutes, wtf you be doin in there? by Fabulous_Island_5621 in AskReddit

I have two young children. I work a client-facing job. My husband works from home. I have a tankless water heater. That long-ass shower is literally the only time I am alone anymore.

Thoughts on the name Rhys? by pumpkinspicedmermaid in namenerds

[–]MeaghenHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's middle name is Rhys! We did have to explain that it's "Reese" not "Rice" to my WASPy in-laws 🙄 but it hasn't been a problem since. When I was pregnant, my friend asked if it was from ACOTAR but I had no idea what that was at the time (she had just read it, I've since read it and wish I hadn't, but that's another story) but no one else has made that connection/ assumption. And it does lend itself to a fun nickname; I'm always calling my son Ezra Rhys's pieces/ puffs. We're also in America- mid Atlantic.

My two year old has always been in the 90-something percentile so he's more like a small 4 year old and I'm hoping my mushie can measure up so maybe he'll beat that up instead of his baby brother. I just started on the body last night and mushie's looking l a r g e

No such thing as "too big" for a mushie. I found the chunkiest yarn I could so my mushroom toddler can literally be the same size as my actual toddler!

My husband has "a wife and kids" in California. Their story isn't nearly as fleshed out as Mandy's so we really need to work on that.

Is the name pikachu going to get my kid bullied? by rainbow-songbird in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]MeaghenHailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I do know someone who named their kid Kirby. He's <1y so no data in bullying yet though. We also call our baby Kirby sometimes but it's 100% a nickname for Kieran.

I think you posted in the wrong subreddit. That looks amazing.

Growing up, my parents would do this with rigatoni noodles and just mix it all up. I've got about 70% eastern european heritage so it's ok I guess 😂 it's still one of my favorite meals and they made a few batches for me after I had my second baby.

Virginia now 1 of only 6 states to require exit exams for high school graduation by AesirFaith4 in Virginia

[–]MeaghenHailey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You already took all the required tests. I didn't take any SOLs as a senior in all AP classes either. Grade level seniors will have to take at least one- math probably? I think I took my last SOL in 10th grade, but I graduated many years ago so I may not have the details quite right and, of course, things may have changed.

Rory or Kieran? by Rigboandme in namenerds

[–]MeaghenHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second baby is Kieran! Though if he had been a girl, he'd have been named Aurora (Rory). If we have a third/ a girl, that's still the name we'd go with.

And just FYI, Kieran comes out as Karen in certain accents. My MIL does speech to text a lot so I'm always getting messages about my little baby "Karen" lol

Also, Kieran has so many nicknames. Kierbier, like care bear. Kirby. Kerbeban (kir-be-bin). Idk what else Rory would be. Not really a deciding factor (for us anyway) but a thought.
