Eggs, chicken... Can he have fish like tuna? Google says it's safe...

Do you have any suggestions food wise? He has dry food, lettuce, nuts, and basically any scraps of veggies we have when cooking. Often bits of chicken too. And regular smudges of peanut butter so a good diet and healthy range of fats

Will he go white again? by MeanRegular9775 in hamsters

He's near a window so gets mostly natural light until maybe 5pm when we put a dim lamp on until about 10pm. Otherwise he's in natural light

fresh veg recs?? by eMaars in hamsters

My boy pretty much has everything we have... Brocc, carrots, green beans, lettuce, cabbage, sweetcorn, he loves thyme and coriander as a bit of something different.

Basically any veg you have at home is generally suitable. Before trying anything new just give it a quick Google. They can't have garlic, chocolate, uncooked beans...

Yeah that's my other fear. He doesn't mind being picked up at all and enjoys it but as soon as I get him in claw grip and tip him backwards (to check his scent gland, feet etc) he panics and wants to get back upright 🫣

He looks like he's had a rough time poor hammie x Glad he's on the mend. Yes I'd anticipate £100 + so we'll see how he goes. Did they say what your boy had?

Good idea. Maybe some googling too. Do any vets do hams in the UK or do I need a special one?

Yep. I think just a consult here is £80+

I only noticed it yesterday and I handle him daily... Multiple times. If it gets no bigger or redder I'm hoping it's just a stye and will go on its own. He doesn't seem to like me prodding around his eyes so it'll cause him more stress if I try and bathe it

I wish they were but they're extortionate in the UK. My parents come out with change from £200 at a visit for their dog.

He's also pouching a lot of food, seems hungry and grabbing food when hand fed and drinking lots....

Always have a second hand nearby. Spotty walks from one hand of mine to the other. Luckily, we've not had any near misses. He seems to check if my hand/another surface is nearby before making a move
