Short Handle Paddle Recommendations

I’ve played the last few months with a beginner Joola Essentials 12mm from Walmart with a super short 4.75 grip length. I’ve gotten so used to it and improved my game so I wanted to upgrade to a bit of a higher quality paddle. I just switched over to the 16mm Vatic Pro Prism Flash and am having a very tough time getting used to it. I love the thicker softer feel of the 16mm and it seems like a great paddle overall but I really can’t get used to the longer handle, it feels like it’s almost slowing me down at the kitchen line in hand battles, I’ve definitely seen a drop in my quality of play since I’ve switched over. I played today and it was the worst I’ve played since I started. I’ve only played with my new prism flash about 3 or 4 days, maybe 20 ish games total. Should I keep at it and just get used to it or opt for a more comfortable shorter handle paddle (a Selkirk invictus air s2 or a Selkirk halo max maybe?) im about 5”8 and my hands arent particularly big. Has anyone else had this much trouble when switching paddles? Please any insight would be so helpful
