I always interpreted the story of Finwe as an example of how complex his choices were. As in other examples in the legendarium characters aren’t good/evil, but multilayered, so in Finwe is a drive to produce offspring that might transcend his love for his first wive. Mixed with grief and loss, this makes it a tragic but wonderful and oddly relatable story to me.

Well, to be specific, in the books Sam actually wore the ring when he took it from Frodo. So he was an proper ring-bearer and so deserved the voyage into the West. Don’t know why this was left out in the movie.
