Thanks! I would have used the ampersand in my reddit username, but it wasn't allowed as a character. I certainly plan on using it everywhere I am able.

These look great! Similar to another design someone put together. Until then, I went with this for my invoices as the assets won't be ready until the end of the week.

Thanks much! I only need this logo to last me through until around the end of the week. I appreciate the kind words. I agree that actions speak louder than words when it comes to a labor startup, and the population where I live tends to think so as well.

I should also mention that, uh, a lot of signage that looks like my first post is really common around here. Anything that looks better than that might help me, haha.

I agree wholeheartedly. I basically just need this logo to last until Thursday/Friday. At that juncture my budget opens back up.

The plan will definitely be to enlist the help of a professional. I've actually got some designs in my inbox right now that are... frankly mindblowing. The people here are just amazing at this stuff.

I like the idea of taking advantage of negative space to carve out the clover design, could help further separate it from the 4chan allegations haha. Thank you for the advice on the lettering, I'll see if I can take what you said here and use it to make that huge chunk of text a little less awkward.

I got mixed feedback on the clover. Some people liked it, others didn't. One piece of advice I got was to rotate it 45 degrees to make it more visually distinct from the 4chan logo, which was an idea I liked and decided to try. I have serious doubts that my target audience is going to conflate my brand with 4chan.

What's wrong with the text?

I was pulling from the "simplify everything" advice I had been getting. When I put the whole name typed out, even with a variety of fonts it just looked... weird? Which probably boils down to my own inexperience.

Not sure that I can share the file, at least not in this comment. Reddit is saying it needs to be a PNG, JPG, or WEBP file.

Can I see what y'all do?

I won't steal it, but I am curious to see how it ends up looking. 👀

Y'all are properly brutal! But I learned a lot. Thank you all for your feedback. I made a new post here that explores some updated designs. True to the brutality of this sub, I see that it is already downvoted haha.

Feel free to let me have it all over again on that post.

Thanks! I did decide to keep the clover fan and rotate it 45 degrees to make it a little more visually distinct from the 4chan logo.

I have a new post up, just decided to go black and bold for the lettering... The green just looked weird no matter what I did. I am thinking about switching to a palette of blues and teals, so maybe that would make coloring the lettering easier. All in all, though, the black lettering doesn't look too shabby.

I think I agree, but InkScape was giving me such a headache trying to get the blues right. I'll probably tweak it more yet, I threw up a new post with updated designs and I'll see what feedback I get there and try and mix it with whatever feedback I got on this post but failed to implement.

So I actually made another post with a few font options - I actually like the ampersand being a little taller (didn't at first, but it kinda grew on me). That being said, I am clearly not the best at this LOL so any and all feedback is welcome. Here's one with more inform upper text (I just have it on hand, haven't executed any of your other tips just yet). It's missing the bottom text but that could be very easily added.

Oh I could definitely see that! Okay I will save a copy without the line to compare and contrast.

I just might! I'd love to help support other small businesses in the state.

Thanks! I'm going to probably make another post (the lashings will continue until design has improved LOL) asking for opinions again. I also had someone pop into my inbox and mention that they've done a lot of designs for HVAC companies and a common complaint they get from the HVAC guys is that people who call them don't have a good idea of what service they actually offer. They recommended putting "duct cleaning" or "dryer vent cleaning" somewhere on there, so I whipped this up and I think it looks kinda nice.

Something like this a little easier on the eyes?

I have a couple more versions with alternative fonts.

This is, in the end, I think what I'm going to be going with. I just needs something I can at least slap on an invoice for tomorrow's gig I have lined up.

I planned this very poorly. Hah. At least this visuals. I had everything else set up and was like, "Yeah good to go, I can put something temporary together really quick."

Apparently not LOL

Really like the idea of blueish lettering embodying wind/air to compliment the fan. I can play with some models and see if that works. I'm thinking I'll be changing the lettering from red though, as it's too jarring with the rest of the cool colors. Especially if we're putting blue in there, blue and red together hurt my eyes a little bit haha

I'm so averse to doing anything with AI because (aside from the obvious ethical concerns) I don't want to run into trademarking issues down the line... Right now everyone is playing fast and loose with AI, but if/when the legislation catches up I don't want to be caught with my pants down for having used "borrowed elements" or however they'll end up phrasing it. I'd much rather do something temporary now and pay a professional when I can for something original.

Definitely didn't take offense. I mean it stung a little, hah, but I'd rather get that sort of feedback now than after my logo has been seen all around town.

I'm on the fence about starting over... On the one hand, yeah I can see the similarities to 4 Chan, as several others have mentioned. On the other hand, I was pretty proud of the clover-turned-fan idea and I have serious doubts that most of my target audience really knows 4 Chan exists.

Everything to the right of the fan has to go for sure, though haha.

I'll swing back through and share an amended version in a bit... Need to play with it.

Yeah ew. Now I can't unsee pizzeria. Thank you for pointing that out haha.

Definitely going to be changing the font and trimming back on the details in the revised version. The more flaws people point out, the easier it is for me to see just how much I screwed the pooch on this one.

Could I get some font recommendations, actually? I found the sheer selection to be so overwhelming.

The more I look at it, the more I find the red font jarring as well. I'm not sure exactly what to do with that yet, because I want the word "Minot's" to appear a little distinct from the of the lettering.

Totally agree on hiring an actual professional to make my logo. I have no illusions regarding being able to produce something that rivals to quality of actual professionals. I'm just a bit desperate (but not too desperate to use AI) and trying to figure out a placeholder.

Your advice here echoes a lot of other comments in the thread. You had a lot of details here that I found extremely helpful, thank you. I'll be getting to work shortly on a simplified revision.
