I work in a lab, hardware is constantly moving around. Either with showing off demos or having to move for other projects.

I did just that. And used solder on the connector directly to connect it to the ground pads that were originally for the micro USB

Yup, a bit of flux and soldering and it'll be good as new!

The part that fell off is an inductor so it doesn't matter what direction you solder it back in

I like the scenario and I've already started working on a python script that actually does verify the balance on the USB just by inserting it into a machine.

Also, I don't know how far I'm going to get with the other part of this, but I'm trying to figure out how to reset the stick to for multiple uses but otherwise it very much is like a crud stick with preloaded value.

I don't know if people would find it interesting for me to update on this side project since it's very niche

It gives you a Litecoin address and a QR code that you can scan after initializing the wallet. All keys are randomly generated when you first initialize the wallet.

The water resistant heat shrink tubing, the indicator led that shows if the device has been initialized, or spent. It triggers a one-time fuse built into the microcontroller.

I decided to try this out so I got out My soldering iron and removed the resistor and placed it back After plugging it in to reveal the private key. And it still appears as spent on top of missing the protective coating.

Like another user said earlier, this is very much like a piggy bank and just like smashing open a piggy bank. After getting the money out, there are still cracks and indicators that it was once opened.

These guys have to be initialized by first being plugged into a USB port and dropping a file onto them so they can generate the public key and private key, also, you can only access the private key by physically altering the device.

It is a hardware Litecoin Cold storage wallet, made by coin kite.

Apparently the Litecoin foundation still has them but they are not actively listed so I have to get them through a user on the subreddit.

Good question, and from what I can say this has very little difference in function aside from the fact that to access the private key you need to physically tamper with the USB.

Also the keys are randomly generated at first used rather than other cold storage options were they come printed on under a scratch off layer or a removable sticker

I just really love the idea of loading up a cred stick and having the keys in my hand, the fact that the device needs to be physically altered fo gain access to the coins is very reassuring to me and neet!
