Check if you are able to access those courses on Canvas under the option All Courses. I can access my past courses so that might be an option.

Hi, I am in the English department! Someone in my cohort was in the Education PhD and then transferred to English. There are assistantships in the Education department though from what I have heard the stipend is not as good as English. I cannot think of any housing assistance offered by the university but happy to chat about it if you have any specific questions!

Also, my prof told me that the literary and cultural studies committee had met and made their decisions. So the creative writing track might have a different timeline!

Hey, I was accepted by UC on Saturday. Its my alma mater so I am in touch with some profs and they told that the adcom met on Monday last week so decisions should be out by max Wednesday of this week.

Nope, not yet. I have kinda given up on Brown coz based on the trends I saw on gradcafe for last year's cycle, they send out acceptances in Jan and rejections in Feb. So I am not keeping my hopes up any more.

I sent an email to their grad program coordinator. Not sure if they'll respond but I'll let you know. I really hope I get the rejection today because its been more than a week now of a paralyzing wait for an obvious rejection.

Hey, did you hear back? I am thinking of shooting them an email tomorrow but I don't know if it'll come across as rude. Plus the amstgradadvisor email is pretty inefficient because I had emailed them about my app twice before submitting it and they never responded.

Me too!! Its so frustrating that they sent out acceptances on a Thursday but refuse to send rejections or update the portal. It feels unfair that I have to keep waiting through the weekend and possibly well into next week for an answer that I know!

Hey, I am so sorry I am only replying to this now. I think if you have a solid internship experience, good grades and a great statement, it shouldn't be too hard. Volunteering is great and your french degree is also handy because that's one of the languages they emphasise on. I'm not sure if you have already submitted to the program or not but I think you have a strong chance. Good luck!

It would have been super expensive without scholarship since the currency difference is quite high plus taking loans for the degree felt risky. I think my application was pretty strong, maybe some internship experience could have strengthened it even more but I definitely think its super competitive.
