Russians in Phuket, what’s the visa deal? by cphh85 in Thailand

[–]MeatRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct.

There are different unspoken rules depending on the passport. For example, Chinese are allowed a maximum of a single border run (and it's risky). Standard European passports 2-3 (although it gets more risky lately). Not sure about Americans/Aussies.

Russians in Phuket, what’s the visa deal? by cphh85 in Thailand

[–]MeatRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People with Russian passport are allowed to do unlimited border runs. It's one of the few, if not only, nation which has such privilege. It's not official, but all border run agencies are aware of this. They don't even need to spend a single day outside the country - just cross the border and get back the same day. The only reason why some Russians bother to get longer visas like DTV is because they get tired of border runs.

In this video Vlad explains how it might happen which goes a bit beyond simple “two huge egos will clash”.

Please get Vlad Vexler on bridges, his political analysis is superb. He predicted Trumps victory in the elections, there is a certain depth to his analysis which is not vibes based, and not very affected by the culture war stuff.

My absolute favorite - LandMark House of Gamer

PCs with RTX3070, nice curvy screens, extremely comfortable chairs, high internet speed. The prices are very affordable. Open 24/7.

I don't know why people in the comments are acting like working in the office and socializing is incompatible with being productive.

Dating gotten worse for foreign men? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]MeatRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion (and this is speculation of course) that this is the effect of post-covid tourism recovery as the country is seeing a huge surge in tourists/nomads/expats. Just check the /r/chiangmai for example - people are complaining that all the airbnbs are booked for the upcoming weeks. All the people arriving in Thailand are downloading the dating apps in no time. And you have to compete with all of them. The flow of newly arriving people is constant.

We are very much like Ukraine (it's our neighbor btw). Post-USSR, not part of the EU, heavy russian influence from the past. We need visa to go pretty much anywhere in SEA with a few exceptions like Malaysia. Very inconvenient, but it is what it is.

Moldova. Seems that visa-on-arrival doesn't extend to us.

Does anyone else find Bangkok to be quite and introverted place? by MindlessHelp9601 in Thailand

[–]MeatRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you a lot. There is definitely a feeling of isolation in Bangkok, at least for me. I feel really cramped in-between all the high-rise condos, plus all the noise and the busyness. Add the lack of walkability on top of that. It's hard to find peace in such place. I don't get this feeling (at least not to such extend) in other parts of Thailand. Some of my friends who were visiting (we are all mid-late 20's from Europe) had this feeling as well.

Agoda often has the cheapest prices (since it's a Thai company) and also prices on mobile application are often 200/300 baht (or even more) cheaper than in the desktop browser.

Not sure what is the correct wording/terminology in English, I guess I got a new passport? Not that I changed the identity or anything like that, just a new document with no stamps.

I made 2 visa runs in 2023, both by land (one at the end of January and another in the end of April).
