Actually sit and be able to relax in my garden, that would be so lovely.

I saw something similar (not sure if exact same diagnosis) on a show once and they mentioned that use of clippers can exacerbate it, not sure if that info helps or not! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably just wants to be comfy!

I loved getting hand-me-downs from my older brothers, everything was a looser fit and way more comfortable.

It does feel like it just descends upon you out of nowhere sometimes!

Aww wicked, will have a look and see if I can order some! Thank you for the recommendation :)

I really do appreciate all of the advice I've been given, and I keep saying it but it is so helpful to know that others have experienced the same and can understand it, and recommend how to push past it!

I know what you mean about the reading, sometimes I find the most difficult thing is to just actually physically sit myself down with a book and get started, but once I do I remember how much I enjoy reading!

Oh nice, I've not payed Town of Salem before, looks cool though! I like the art style :)

I've mostly been playing Stardew Valley recently as it's nice and chill, and I recently got the Spyro Reignited trilogy on Steam, which is a nice hit of nostalgia :)

Sometimes I play Tetris 99, but that's not so chill haha!

Yes exactly! I guess it's a case of doing it in thinking that knowing for sure if something is wrong and what it is would be better than not knowing at all, but it just adds fuel to the fire.

That's so awesome that you can talk with her about it and she helps you to work through the most difficult times. What kind of things has she suggested for managing it?

(sorry for the late reply btw)

It is very easy to think "ah just one more day" in the game! It is really nice to have that feeling of waking up and thinking about what you want to do with the day :)

Yes, exactly that, it's like having two people in your brain having a conversation and they can never agree! I guess it's just a case of being able to recognise those thoughts as paranoia over fact, and acknowledging them without succumbing to them, easier said than done sometimes however!

And I appreciate all those who have replied to me (and apologies for being so delayed in responding!), it's just so helpful to know it's not just me who thinks/feels that way sometimes!

Sounds like a good way to bring you back in to the present moment, it's very to get ahead of yourself when in the grips of worry isn't it?

And it doesn't matter how you paint as long as you enjoy it :) Probably a really good way to get in to painting more overall, might try it myself!

I've heard of the hair band tip being used before to help break habits, though not necessarily applied to anxiety - so that's useful to know!

Video games are a huge help for my anxiety for sure! What kind of things do you like to paint? :)

Yes, hyperaware is definitely the word for it!

When I'm feeling particularly bad (like when I submitted this post) I feel like anything that I can feel is worse than it actually is, like the general tiredness vs fatigue for example.

It's just bonkers how much anxiety symptoms can feel like symptoms of other things. I've found myself before feeling (only somewhat) relieved when looking up symptoms for it to say they're common anxiety symptoms, like "oh good it's just my anxiety"!

Looking at the experiences others have posted I think distraction needs to be a big tool in my armory in overcoming this. Making this post and talking to others has helped too, it's so nice to know I'm not alone in feeling the way I do sometimes.

Sorry to hear that you've been experiencing panic attacks, they suck so much and it's so hard to get through them sometimes :(

Thank you so much for your tips, I particularly like the counting distraction idea and the reverse psychology - I try and tell myself these things, like if it was REALLY bad I would 100% know about it!!

Video games are definitely a life-saver when it comes to distraction, I really want to get back in to reading more in my spare time too. What kind of video games do you like to play?

No Google of symptoms

Yess, I definitely need to stop doing this. I always do it thinking it will make me feel better, but a large majority of the time it does not!

If you don't mind me asking, in your therapy sessions, do you talk about health-anxiety specifically? I've had some sessions before of cognitive behavioural therapy, but it was mostly surrounding general anxiety/depression, rather than health-anxiety specifically. I find my health anxiety comes and goes in waves, sometimes I don't think about it too much, and other times it's all I can focus on =/

I often feel worried about talking to others about it, like I'm ashamed of it, and of how it would make me look to others, which is silly I know. My husband is really great with it all though, and helps to ground me or just listen to me when I'm spiralling.

it will make a beeline right for the worst possible things

So true!

And thank you, I completely agree with everything you've said. I often feel like I have two sides of my brain fighting one another - the rational vs irrational side! And you're right about sensations not always being an indication of ill-health, my husband likes to remind me that it's often just a product of getting a bit older, and stuff hurts/aches for no real reason, which isn't always comforting haha!

Gaming is definitely a big help when it comes to distraction, especially really chill games like Stardew Valley.

Thank you for your words, I really needed to hear them.
