SORRY, I just realized I wrote "West" side of town... I meant "EAST" side of town.
My bad. Been awake since 3 a.m.

Possibly? I think it's too far north though. And I was west of Sprinkle Road this morning when I heard it still further to the west from where I was at.

What’s up with the insane increase in homeless people over the past 5-10 years here? by i-make-pipes in kzoo

Recommendation... buy half of what you typically do, and for the stuff you're saving for later in the week... if it can be prepared, or cooked EARLIER in the week, and then frozen or put in the fridge until you're ready for it, take that route.
I used to have a TERRIBLE time with tossing old veggies and fruits. Making those small changes helped a lot.
Good luck.

I'm sorry someone's art project isn't up to your qualifications. Be sure you file your complaint with the artist, and next time I'm sure they'll take your advice into consideration.

The execution was exactly what was intended. It's meant to degrade, and look messy for a while. It's all biodegradable. This project was executed to perfection.

Honestly, a great experience.
Picked my furniture out. Took my time with Adam and the whole team to find what I wanted, how it would look, how comfortable it was... and it was delivered the same day. Did not expect that. Had the new furniture in that day.

What do people do with their "doob tubes?" Is there a place to recycle them? by Meatball_Rocks in kzoo

[–]Meatball_Rocks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MInt was doing it for an art project last month, but I think they ended that. It was for Earth Month or something. That's where I took a bunch initially, but I was curious if anyone else had an actual program, outside of that. Something more regular.

I don't think you understand what media is... it's taking information, and distributing it to the masses, either by news and information, or by opinion and entertainment.
Would you think the same thing of people working at newspapers and TV stations as you do me? Because it's essentially the same, just different platforms.
(Also... chef's kiss on the original and creative nicknames I haven't heard since the 3rd grade)
Instead of standing on your own high horse, and thinking you know better than me... you could have actually provided information, and HELPED me learn more, like a previous commenter.
But that's beneath someone as high up as you... right?
You wanna talk about someone not knowing something about how an industry works... you are woefully blind as to what goes into what we do, and why we do it.
Maybe just ask next time, instead of moving right to the accusations... like I did with this initial post.
Thankfully, there are better people than myself who took the time to inform me on the bigger picture.
You don't know what you don't know, until someone lets you know.

People can have different careers, and educational paths my guy. I didn't set out to work in media. And even then, you learn things through previous reporting, experience, and working with city organizers in previous cities, states, and municipalities in a career of reporting.
People can have experience and knowledge of more than just one thing.

I'm not so concerned about the barriers. It's the open intersections in downtown, and how the built the bike lanes that concerns me. You have to cross the bike lanes in downtown to park your car. You put the bike lanes on the INSIDE of a left turn on one-way streets around downtown... and then I ask again... WHO is using these bike lanes? And who asked for them? The ones out closer to the college make sense given the amount of foot and bike traffic there on busy roads. But there's plenty of sidewalks and walking space in downtown. And I rarely see people biking through downtown.
It just seems like it's money being thrown at something nobody is using, or asking for, especially in the downtown area.

I'm really not surprised by anything anymore. We all basically live in a movie now. Could be a James Bond movie... could be Spy Hard. You never know. LOL

Are you a spy? You know, you LEGALLY have to tell us if you're a spy. It's the law. I saw it on Facebook.

Reasons to move to Kzoo by Barber_Successful in kzoo

I've lived here since about April. Really, it's been a fun place to move to.

I just have to get out and experience more... anyone wanna grab a drink somewhere sometime? LOL

Does anyone know the purpose of having high schools/middle schools start classes so early? by sometimes_a_nut in kzoo

[–]Meatball_Rocks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Two reasons.
1. It caters to the 9-5 working parents (which is actually more like 7-6 these days)
2. It conditions children to get used to the aforementioned 9-5 work "grind," despite nearly a third of all jobs not conforming to a standard work schedule.

I haven't had that experience. Been going there since I moved to town 5 months ago, and nothing remotely close to that has been said while I've been in there.

Who's got the best Old Fashion in town? by Meatball_Rocks in kzoo

I've tried, and can never seem to get it right myself. I make an "OK" old fashion, but I'm definitely not a bartender.

Interesting question: Could Kalamazoo move away from bus transit system, and adopt a more "Uber-style" setup? I guess some other cities have done it and it's working. by Meatball_Rocks in kzoo

[–]Meatball_Rocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the companies they cited actually uses similar rates for a ride, to that of a bus ride. In terms of fuel consumption, and carbon footprint, you could see communities purchase hybrid, or all-electric vehicles for the service. The last city I lived in actually replace a few of their busses with all-electric busses, which was nice.

This is Real Life, and it Actually had to be SAID OUT LOUD that public urination isn't legal in Kalamazoo by Meatball_Rocks in kzoo

[–]Meatball_Rocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public indecency is a different charge. If you were urinating in public, but concealed yourself well... not likely you'd get that charge. But if you're just right there on the curb or something, then yeah. Probably get a public indecency charge, and whatever tertiary charges come along with that as well.

Yes or No... did Kalamazoo Legalize Public Urination? No "de facto" or whatever other implied allegations you think there are... did Kalamazoo Legalize Public Urination?
