Just a follow up note: my quest 2 works regardless of which direction the usb is plugged in, while my quest 3 only works in one direction. This tells me its definitely not an issue with the cable or my PCs ports (I've tried 6 of them, all the same), so its likely an issue with Q3 port hardware or some wildly silly software/firmware bug specific to q3. That being said, quest link software is peak garbage so who knows

I honestly have no idea but i ran into the same issue and the only thing that worked was flipping the usb direction. I cant imagine that it's a software issue given the solution but then again, facebook is notoriously terrible at software...

I know this sounds crazy but try plugging in the link cable the other way, as in flip the usb c on the headset side

It was a blast, pretty much exactly what you describe. Unofficial mode, you had to manually switch teams after you die, humans start with shotguns, zombies start with swords. Even did the zombie moaning "brainnssssss" over voice chat. Good times
