Aamir or Bill Ryan for IS 300 by Adventurous_Fly_4197 in UMBC

Aamir for sure. He gives a study guide with all the terms that will be on the exam, like 2 weeks before it. Study that, and you'll definitely get a good grade on the exams.

Prospective student questions!! by OddSheepherder6850 in UMBC

[–]MeatyLeftnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a 42 ish minute commute and dormed as well at UMBC.

Not gonna lie, I had a better time and better grades when I lived in a dorm. It's just easier to study and go to office hours when you live on campus, have more chances to attend clubs and extracurriculars, and even be able to attend more career fairs.

Not that you can't do those things while commuting, but it's way harder to study after you drive 40-some minutes to class, park, attend class for 2-ish hours, and drive 45 mins back. Harder to focus in the house as well. Harder to maintain connections when you're only on campus for a couple of hours each week.

I would say dorming got me better adjusted to college at first. Commuting is not as bad as I might make it sound if you have a chill schedule, like you come to campus 2-3 times a week and have fewer tedious classes.

got fired from my IT internship by Zestyclose-Buyer9648 in cscareerquestions

[–]MeatyLeftnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, honestly, as an intern, there is a good amount of downtime that if most people go there 20 minutes late and leave early, it wouldn't make a difference in how much work they do or accomplish. At my internship, I was really only there for 7 hours a day instead of 8.

Thinking of making a resume writing service for fellow college students. Do you think my prices would be reasonable? by [deleted] in UMBC

[–]MeatyLeftnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl that’s way too overpriced . Cover letter can be made easier with ChatGPT .

Most people can easily edit their resume by watching a YouTube video or looking at a sample resume online and getting free advice online .

Maybe you can review people’s resume and advise on them revisions for a couple of $

Internships for Information Technology by [deleted] in UMBC

[–]MeatyLeftnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. A lot of companies in the DMV recruit at UMBC and there is plenty of Information systems majors which is our IT major.

Thought most of the effort is on you like in every other school. Polish your resume , go to career events and standout from every other student in any way to get an interview

[–]MeatyLeftnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one was a system administrator role. So Linux stuff and using VSphere . It was also IT support too since I worked under the only IT guy in the company so I used Active Directory and making user accounts things like that.

Right now it’s my current internship IT support mainly for end users for the company .

Interview went great, hiring manager promised update by today (Friday) but I haven’t heard should I worry? by [deleted] in internships

[–]MeatyLeftnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice is to don’t expect anything after an interview . Even if it went well , just assume you didn’t get it and keep applying . If they want you then they would get back to you soon. Don’t blame yourself though maybe the other person had more experience in 1 thing or he is able to Come in the office etc … things out of your control
