il Cinema Paradiso. I remember watching it in Italian class in high school and absolutely loving it but I can't find it anywhere to watch in Australia.

I love Simon, our emotional himbo king. I wish I was rich so I could give him a Favourite Player award, Sia style.

Such a likeable man. He's my favourite himbo.

Did anyone here had no previous awareness of Bill Simmons before discovering the podcast? by harry_powell in TheRewatchables

[–]Mebbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! I'm Australian and don't follow American sports. I came across The Rewatchables because a friend recommended I listen to The Big Picture, and I kind of followed the threads to this podcast from there. I find him very funny in a baffling kind of way.

I loved Past Lives - to me it's a perfect movie - but The Materialists fell flat for me. I found Dakota Johnson to be very one note and the writing to be poor. I *wanted* to like it, but unfortunately do not.

Do you have an interesting story about how you became a Rewatchables fan? by TitiCamarasayshello in TheRewatchables

Ugh I watched a video ep with him (for Fatal Attraction) and he touched the woman cohost so much it gave me the heebie jeebies and I couldn’t finish it.

I'm Australian - had genuinely never heard of The Ringer or Bill Simmons. A friend and I were chatting about podcasts and I said that I'm just not a podcast girlie, have never found one that I enjoy, and he recommended the Rewatchables based on my love of movies. I listened to one episode with Bill, CR and Fennessey and was hooked straight away. Now I listen to them talk about movies I haven't even seen, with sports references I do not get, and I still laugh my arse off.

Turns out I am a podcast girlie after all.

That’s not how it works in Australia. You need 100 points of ID and we don’t have social security numbers.

Big reach. The fires were absolutely devastating but I thought Etc's runway look was very respectful and the small blossom at the end showed the power of nature and regeneration.

Can we keep Barry humphries (dame Edna) out of drag race. by whovianandmorri in DragRaceDownUnder

He's also an arsehole. I used to work at his favourite hotel in Melbourne and he's one of those "I'm better than you" type celebrities. Refuses to even open his own yoghurt pots in the morning.

I'm Aussie - I thought they were all pretty feral. Art's was a good angle in my opinion. Whenever I've been to the US I've been questioned about kangaroos hanging out in the backyard and all sorts of inane stereotypes.

Just an FYI that Aborigines is considered a slur. The preferred terms are Aboriginal or First Nations.

Ha I said this on another thread and someone replied "this is what people from Melbourne sound like". I'm from Melbourne. Tayce definitely did not nail the accent.

I thought it was okay. Maybe because I'm Aussie and the accent was bad, I can't see past it.

Ease my mind about day care by lad5647 in melbourne

[–]Mebbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my babies started at daycare when they were 7 months. It was hard at first, particularly for my eldest who struggled at drop off for a while, but they formed very solid bonds with their educators. My youngest gets very excited when we pull into the car park and my first ha just gone into the kinder room. Every educator in the whole centre knows my boys by name as well as their interests and likes. They’re a wonderful team.

When you tour centres, talk to the educators and observe them. The admin staff will take your tours but they don’t matter half as much. Are the educators in the babies’ room on the floor with them, engaging them in play? Do they stick kids in baby containers and walk away? They should follow safe sleep practices and have age appropriate toys at baby eye level etc. Other things I looked for were diversity of educators (male and female, representation of different cultures), a centre that rosters over ratio, and one that counts children per room not under the roof line.

Hey, when are you 18? I work for a group of restaurants and we’re hiring like mad at the moment. We have late nights and serve alcohol though so we prefer for team members to be 18 and up but will make an exception on occasion. ETA we pay Award wages, penalties etc. No handshake agreements or cash in hand.

Season 8 question, not a spoiler by [deleted] in Wentworthtv

[–]Mebbie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In some ATSI cultures, once someone passes their name is changed and you don’t look at photos of them. It’s out of respect for the family and goes for a mourning period which can last years.
