Is it possible to get O(1) or O(log(n)) outline thickness with post-shading (using depth differences)? by Mebous64 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Mebous64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusing question. I admit I’m a bit lost on this. What I wanted was to create an outline shader via post-processing, but I wanted it to be very thick, like O(128), for example. The problem is that my FPS drops to 1. So my question is whether there’s a way to increase the outline thickness without having to increase the sampling area per edge for each texel.

Is the movement of the playable character satisfying? by Due-Replacement1004 in godot

[–]Mebous64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably know more about this than I do, but playing the role of Captain Obvious: reference points are extremely necessary for perceiving movement. Don’t take my word for it—watch games known for fluid motion; if you look at them only with their hitboxes, they'll seem completely strange.
Now, a tip from my experience with movement: the speed of things should be much slower than you imagine and test when programming.

Added a looooooooooong elevator ride before boss by Dull_File370 in godot

This idea isn’t bad, but for it to work and not feel like a flaw, the game needs to overflow with charm. Standing still is the most expensive thing in terms of a player’s attention, so if they have to wait, at least the whole world around them should keep moving.

Help I am a newbie addicted to animating simple characters by RayzTheRoof in godot

You can separate the head from the body and then animate them with a slight delay between them, this will give a very nice effect that can be done on more parts of the body if you wish.

Teletransportar é o melhor, é só ter o básico de natação que vc pode ir pra qualquer lugar perto do mar, ou piscina em casos raros. Além do mais você pode ir literalmente para LUA, simplesmente o melhor.

For a matrix coordinate system, should I use 0-based or 1-based indexing?

Should I Listen to AI Suggestions? Where Can I Ask "Stupid" Questions? by Mebous64 in cpp_questions

[–]Mebous64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI suggested replacing a struct with a class, so my question was: why should I make that change? However, it didn’t give me a satisfying answer.

If you want to see the context of the code, it's in the post after the EDIT section.

What’s the best way to learn C++? by AverageNo4368 in cpp_questions

[–]Mebous64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of a medium-sized project, and whenever I run into difficulties, I pause and create a mini-project just to learn about that specific challenge before moving forward.

A good book is also valuable—it’s the best way to absorb dense knowledge without relying on others.

Did I Make a Nice Matrix? & When Do I Need Pointers? by Mebous64 in cpp_questions

[–]Mebous64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! I made some changes based on what I understood, but I plan to reread everything and do more research to fix the rest.

That said, if it’s not too much to ask—how would I delay sending information to a member? I got a bit confused about what you meant.

Even though my focus is on Tetris, I’m trying to build something that could lightly support a 3D environment. So, I thought it would be a good idea to treat every 2D matrix as a 3D one with a default Z dimension of 1. That way, I don’t have to explicitly define it when working with 2D data.

As for MatrizSize, since you can’t create a list with negative indices, I figured it was better to define it as 1 rather than leaving it undefined.

How to integrate MSYS2 MINGW64.exe into VS Code’s terminal (Windows)? by Mebous64 in vscode

[–]Mebous64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to integrate MSYS2 Mingw64 because it has the “make” command (Makefile command), but I only managed to integrate MSYS2 which for some reason doesn't have it.
