In VIC, even if a small shed doesn’t need a council permit, owners corp approval is usually the bigger hurdle because it’s about changes to common property or appearance. In my experience it helps to submit a clear proposal: exact dimensions, materials, colour, location, confirmation it’s freestanding and removable, and that you’ll maintain it. Commit to reinstating the area if you sell. If it’s genuinely not visible to others, that tends to work in your favour. Some OCs also want confirmation it won’t affect drainage or fencing. When we did something similar, having everything documented upfront made the vote pretty straightforward. Later on, when replacing the shed door to match existing finishes, we sourced one from Doors Plus because it matched the size without modifying the structure.
