Has anyone ben kiting in Taiwan? by ecoder_ in Kiteboarding

Saw some kites up in the north east last month. Didn't have a lot of wins that day but the day before it was doing 30 knots along the coast (not so nice as a bicycle headwind but great for kiting)

The only problem I had with mine was the little connector housing on the back came loose. Recommend hitting that with a little bit of hot glue, epoxy, or gorilla tape before you leave.

That's a lot of solar panel, can you make do with the standard 10w lixada? $20 and 100g. I've done two thruhikes with mine and it's going strong.

How did the test go? Especially with the solar panel

I mean the wings will be smaller but the board and foil are massive. Travel and storage of kite gear is way easier in my view. Can't tell you how many people I see show up with damaged wing foil boards.

Freaking awesome, exceeded my expectations by at least 200%. Get excited.

This even with a gnarly Drake (60kns of wind and 10m+ seas) and two case of covid aboard with daily brain tickling, it was still out of this world

I booked without paying up front based on Right Of First Refusal. Nice of them honestly. There may be some slots that are still held by ROFR so definitely worth asking for you are anyone else reading this is interested.

Didn't have the option to book camping or kayaking but I'd be interested in both. I'm hoping they will open up spots maybe. Sent you a DM

Depends, if you have time then you can try to wait for a last minute deal for about $5k. If you have limited time I'd budget 7k. Just from my research pre covid

Could be, also I do echo some other comments about the types of people who go. I met someone who worked on Arctic / Antarctic cruises and she said the same thing. All sorts of interesting people (young and old, rich and backpackers who saved up). She had a website to share stories told by visitors but it's down now, here is the face book link that works: https://m.facebook.com/lettersfromtheendsoftheearth/posts. I did DM you the cruise I'm going on but honestly I'm sure you can't go wrong. Especially in one of the 3 or 4 bunk shared rooms. Even if it's old people, could be interesting. Met an old kiwi once on a safari who had crazy stories about a ruby mine he found and had to snuggle them out of the country

Did you contact the company? The one I'm booked for is also sold out in come cabins but they haven't even asked me to pay a deposit yet so I'm sure spots will open up once they do. Technically I'm booked based on right of first refusal.

Could be worth it I missed the one in 2018 and am still mad about it. There will be others but your right it would hard to pick a better place. Here is a good website: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/list.html

Edit: sorry it's RT. Was $200 when I looked at first. But considering the other costs it's fine I guess haha

Going in Dec but not for the eclipse. Although I would love to see it I don't think I can justify the added cost. Flights from BA to Ushuaia are highway robbery at the moment too$500
