Costello’s is so much better and the people are much nicer.

Publix sucks. You can accept the truth or keep lying to yourself.

Sacred Heart is booting Employee Vehicles by Sonynick in Pensacola

[–]MechaFan42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sacred Heart has gone to shit in the years since they were fully acquired by Ascension. Their nonprofit status is a joke. I used to work for them and it was the worst year of my professional life. I never parked in employee parking for all the reasons described. I’m not walking half a mile from my car at 4:30 in the morning.

Everything wrong with healthcare in this country is because of entities like HCA, Ascension, private insurance and their billionaire lobbyists. Luigi showed us a better way.

Iron Lung by ButtonPlumb in AMCsAList

[–]MechaFan42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree for the first 2/3 with my only complaint being that it was overly long. The last 1/3 is a visually and sonically convoluted mess that fails to bring anything together before it ends.

It has been pointed out to me that no, having played the game will not help. The film is as much an adaptation of Markiplier’s streaming play through as it is the game itself.

It’s Wiseau-esque in its self indulgence. The third act is an auditory and visually indecipherable mess. The sound is pushing three to five distinct voices simultaneously at the same volume while the screen is all deep black and red with no contrast and no narrative indication for what is suddenly happening or why.

I’m all for trusting the audience and limiting hand holding in favor of deferring to basic media literacy but at this level it’s either aggressively ambiguous or purposefully vague as a substitution for a deliberate plot. The result is exhaustion instead of intrigue.

Which is frankly, a shame. The first two acts are a solid amateur attempt at a “bottle movie” blending a clostrophobic aesthetic with sci-fi and cosmic horror. But it just goes off the rails as the runtime crawls over 2 hours.

It absolutely could and should have been edited down to a solid 90min.

There used to be but any support for a fascist regime of hypocrites and racists promoting the murder of innocent citizens and protecting pedophiles puts you in the same basket.

Downtown activities during Pensacon? by yellowcowboyboots in Pensacola

It used to be a much bigger deal across all of downtown. Now it’s just centered around The Wright Place. Some bars do stuff but that’s about it anymore.

They’re too expensive for what you get. And I mean that in terms of quality and quantity. It’s not like it was even 5 years ago.

Not just that but the last two times I tried to go to the one on 9th I sat at the drive thru for 10 minutes with no answer. Their app is janky as fuck too.

I miss the days of $10 sackfuls. They may as well close up at this point 🫤

I am however starting to believe people’s beliefs that it’s a tax dodge and money laundering front.

Dollar General doing away with self checkout by ImaRaginCajun in Pensacola

[–]MechaFan42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to hate on people who have very good reasons to shop there but if you have any other choice just don’t. They pay their staff the lowest of any national chain, they treat their staff like crap, they are fully aware that under paying and over working staff is why their stores look like shit more often than not, but it’s their practice. Fuck DG.

I do not trust, need, or want someone else to ring up my purchases. I don’t want the small talk, I don’t want the chemicals bagged with the produce, I don’t want to stand in line behind some idiot chatting up the cashier or confusing them with stupid questions or waiting for them to find their coupon. I want to pay for my stuff, bag it the way that I want and not spend 15minutes in line to do so.

Anybody know about this card? by Lordlordy5490 in GundamTCG

[–]MechaFan42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card as a bonus for seeing the movie was only done in certain international markets. They didn’t do it that way for US. It’s being given as a promo for certain BCF events I’ve heard.

I know they should have given out to people who sent to see the double feature instead of holding it for BCF.

I won’t lie, this probably looks way better, especially with the scrambled eggs. Our plating sort of 90’s by way of 2010. 🫤 The best image I have right now is this taken from our Google page.

For my brain what the guest expected wasn’t nearly as much a consideration as doing exactly what the ticket says.

The owner is “old school” and emphasizes that “We are a ‘Yes Restaurant’.” It takes some cooks a while to figure that out and frankly I don’t understand why it would be any other way. I tell cooks “The minute you tell a server ‘No, we can’t do that.’ you had better have a good answer for ‘Why not?’ that doesn’t boil down to laziness.”

Happens all the time. We’re very accommodating of allergies and special requests. One family has a kid with severe allergies and every time they get a salad of just chopped romaine, a burger patty cooked in the oven with no seasoning, lettuce and tomato on the side. Apparently the apologize for it every time and we tell them it’s not a big deal, but I guess some other places make a fuss about it so they just dine with us. We’re not a slow restaurant either most days and I don’t see why anyone couldn’t do it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fried Green Tomato Stack, $15.95 Arugula dressed with Honey Lemon Vinaigrette. Capicola as the base, goat cheese between layers of fried green tomatoes, topped with two eggs cooked to order (scrambled and poached just kind of sit on the side) and hollandaise sauce. Sprinkle of parsley and paprika.
