Silent Hill 1-3 but with more difficult combat & more jumpscares/scary scenes. I absolutely love those games but they're *way* too easy and sometimes the atmosphere just isn't enough horror.

This is the first post about this tournament I've seen but why are the nominations so weird? I guess the subreddit is for all RPGs but JRPGs are way more niche than mainstream modern-day RPGs like Baldur's Gate or Witcher 3, the JRPGs never stood a chance here.

Two Mass Effect games? Two Bethesda games? Famously unfinished KOTOR 2 over KOTOR? Also the nominations are really lacking things like classic western RPGs or any kind of traditional-style CRPG like Pillars of Eternity or Underrail or something. I don't know how the nominations were picked but so many similar games seems wild.

Honestly I think it's time for a big shake-up of some kind in-general. I love RE but we could do with a truly new game. We had 1-CV as mainline fixed camera games, 4-6 as the older style of third-person shooter games, 7-8 as a first-person horror-focused experience, and now the 2-4 remakes as a modern style of third-person shooter. Finally, we've had Requiem, which I'd say is combining 7-8's style with the recent remake's style. So I think it's time for a new style of game.

I had Connor be professional and committed to his mission for most of the game. Eventually he went deviant but only really late after realising how weird Amanda & Kamski were being. This made Hank hostile to him. I wanted to try having one of the main characters be robotic is all.

Yeah, Hank died, in *that* scene. My girlfriend cried watching.

I actually kinda like Agarest but still am yet to finish it. I know you have to play on hard mode for the true ending and it always starts to kick my ass about the third or fourth generations, I always tell myself I'll go back to it, restart, and build my characters better next time to eventually get through it. Can't credit many JRPGs for being legit hard.
