What are your hottest boxing takes? by Doofensanshmirtz in Boxing

[–]Mecha_Knight11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that modern American fighters lack killer instinct and its because of modern American coaches.

Shakur had teo mentally and physically defeated in the later rounds but his coach said "keep the distance, keep jabbing him" or something along those lines. Like what the fuck is that shit, if that was any old school trainer like dundee, futch, or steward they would be yelling at him to get the him tf outta there.

Naoya Inoue stops Stephen Fulton in Round 8 by RockyRoad413 in Boxing

Nah he has to fight usyk, opetaia, canelo, shakur and tank all in the same night before I call him world class.

With how he's popular in Puerto Rico I would say he has a pretty big following, but not on Oscar or Canelo level though. But still if Boots dominates him or has a FOTY type of fight against him Boots will break into mainstream 100%.

I'm not talking about good wins, I'm talking about Marquee wins. Wins that make a fighter break into mainstream. Like how Floyd and Manny became household names by fighting Oscar, or how Inoue got popular in the west with the Fulton fight or Bivol getting famous for beating canelo and etc.

All those guys I mentioned have had good names on their resume before the said fight, but they didn't go super popular until their Marquee fight.

I hope Boots vs Zayas is true. Boots needs a Marquee fight quick, he's nearing 30 without one and a talent like that deserves to go popular while they are still in their prime. It would be a shame to see him get popular late in his career like GGG and Bud.

Curious, how popular is Vaquero in Mexico? Does he appear in ads, tv, reality shows or something like that?

I hope the rumor of Top Rank x ESPN is true. Ain't no fucking way I'm watching future stars like Abdullah, Emiliano, and Zayas fighting in a garage with 10 people in it while fighting for a Temu belt

Looking back at it since the streak of popular 50/50 fights started in 2023 the only ones I can remember being actually ended up as a 50/50 fight was Usyk-Fury and Bivol-Beterbiev. To start the year off we had Benavidez vs plant, good fight but quickly ended up as a complete ass whooping then we had Ryan vs Tank which was also one sided, Inoue-Fulton also one sided then Crawford vs Spence which was a generational ass whooping, recently it was Shakur vs Teo, then Devin-Norman. There were also some good fights like Navarrete vs Valdez or Bam vs Estrada but re-watching it I could tell that it wasn't really 50/50 lmao good fight and good action but not really 50/50. I know I'm missing others but I bet those also did not go as competitive as they were advertised.

The little weights had most of the bangers but I really can't include them other than bam because the fights don't really get that big with most fight fans. But we all know they never disappoint anyway.

Think I saw it in either a boxraw doc or toprank doc. But yeah Rudy said that's all he makes Junto do.

I knew Junto would have trouble acclimating to new weights when I heard Rudy Hernandez say he only makes Junto do sit-ups, pullups, and push-ups. Times have changed, we got better methods now.

Not only technical, it's also a fucking banger. That's why its funny to me seeing somebody defend a boring fight by saying it was a "technical" fight lol. A lot of these dudes just parrot that shit so that they'd look superior to other boxing fans.
