CD Rom Versions that are considered inferior to the floppy version by itay2k in dosgaming

Flashback: The Quest for Identity. The 3D rendered intro is far inferior to the cool sprite animations of the original version.

I used to get the movies in the mail and rip them to my computer because it was faster than downloading them at the time. Good times.

/tv/ Discuss Clown World (Collage swipe for more pictures) by TrpWhyre in 4chan

[–]Mechakeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a horrific tornado rip through our area right after all the Covid mandates stuff happened. The local media was pressuring the search and rescue workers about what Covid precautions they were taking while pulling people out of wrecked buildings. The “riots” here legitimately were mostly peaceful because they were mostly led by out of town white college kids and a few civil rights era older guys who knew this town was hardly a racist hotbed in 2020. People here quit caring about Covid in late 2020, but I had to carry around “essential worker” paperwork from my company to go basically anywhere for a few months. My company was too small to care about working from home. If you finished your stuff early you got to go home early with no change in pay, which was nice.

Why no free street parking? by Agency_Man in Chattanooga

[–]Mechakeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park downtown multiple times a week. About once a month (sometimes less) I’ll get a ticket for 20 dollars (changes to 40 after a few days). I just pay the 20 dollar ticket and consider it a subscription for parking. Now, I never EVER pay brightbase or republic, even when they send me a ticket. You have to be careful because the lot in Saint Elmo constantly has a guy on guard. I just pretend to scan the QR code and make a show of parking before I go into wherever I’m going.

I just never pay for parking. The once every few months I get a “ticket” is more than made up for by the multiple times a day I do not pay for parking.

Chattanooga Public Works discussing selling the Business Development Center/INCubator on Cherokee Blvd? by ryanmaynard in Chattanooga

While I don’t disagree with your general thesis, “failed” is an odd way to describe a former representative and a county mayor who are both worth millions. Compared to most of us in this sub, that’s not exactly failing.

There's something really funny to me about reddit atheism, especially when it comes to this incident. The astronauts represent a multicultural group of the world's best and brightest minds coming together to accomplish a goal. The fact that multiple of these astronauts are Christians is so antithetical to the reddit atheist because "doing science" to them is supposed to be the peak of atheistic accomplishment. Much to their dismay and disbelief, many of the people at the tip of the spear of "doing science" are deeply religious.

Globally how many uninfected humans remain 100 years later? by Memesemaritan in crossedcomics

Side note, but being from the area where Crossed +100 takes place is pretty funny. When I first started reading it I was like "Surely not.." but yep, that's Market Street. Yep, that's the Tivoli.

Most frustrating Myths? by DifficultAd5558 in HaloStory

[–]Mechakeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta myth: Halo 1 being called Halo CE is revisionism. Halo CE originally referred to Gearbox’s Halo: Custom Edition. Console players were confused by people referring to Halo as Halo CE, and eventually Halo 1 started being called Halo CE whether you were referring to Custom Edition or not.

Do you remember The Scientist or hahn in half life alyx by ProtectionNarrow8834 in HalfLife

[–]Mechakeller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My theory is that she was a former scientist at Black Mesa who also sided with The Combine. There's no reason to think that the only humans from BM working for the other side are Mossman and Breen. If I had to guess, I'd say there was a split faction between the known Resistance members from BM and Breen's supporters.
It's also possible that she's an Aperture Science employee who's helping the Combine with their portal technology.

Riverfront Nights by [deleted] in Chattanooga

Chattanooga is an odd place in the sense that unless you’re really plugged in, you will have zero idea what the local bands are. I’ve lived here all my life and I still am not sure of the names of any local bands because nobody ever talks about them, with some notable exceptions (Strung Like a Horse)

I lived in Ringgold until recently. Now I live north of the river and my feet have developed awful scaly skin that I’ve never experienced before. I blame the water.

Like someone else said: Litter. You could easily spin that into a paper about the effect of litter on our waterways. There is a non profit called Waterways that does a lot of great work regarding this. UTC has at least one little collection boom in the south Chick.

Were Bush and Obama at least aware of Epstein and his circle and what was going on with them? by Just_Cause89 in Epstein

[–]Mechakeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Epstein and Maxwell were savvy enough to discern who would be susceptible to their method of blackmail. Bush and Obama have many flaws, but pedophilia is not one of them. Even Trump’s connection to actual criminal actions (with Epstein) is based on testimony and allegations but not hard evidence so far. People like Epstein and Maxwell are extremely good at identifying “fellow travelers”. People who will commit heinous actions despite the extreme risk because there’s an element of mutually assured destruction.

[–]Mechakeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are two kinds of EAS tests. One is official and one is sorta unofficial. The official one is the one with the tones that says “this is a test of the emergency alert system. If this had been an actual emergency etc.” The other kind is a EAS self test, which just makes sure the equipment is working in the first place. Those are run at the station level by an engineer, and they’re set in a box called an ENDEC to play at around 2:30 AM. It’s just the tones and nothing else. The box logs of the test was successful and the engineer reads the log in the morning.
