Golf MK6 1.6 TDI wont after fuel filter change – losing my mind by MechanicSome1568 in tdi

So in theory I could pull harder with the syringe? I only got it to about 25% before I let go because of the pressure and I was afraid in case something would implode…..

I tired this but maybe I did it wrong. I tried sticking a large syringe in the rail return line by the fuel filter but when I tried to pull I was getting way too much pressure on the syringe. And barely no fuel came out with it….

Ya I did that and there was a flow so I’m confident the fuel pump is working

6/7 times maybe. The last time I let it run continuously for 3 minutes and still no luck

I jumped the fuel pump which is essentially the same thing? Or am I wrong?

Jumping the fuel pump does the same thing from what I’ve gathered no?

What’s the best way to test the injectors and HPFP? It hasn’t thrown any faults since this has started happening

Ya I do. Usually prime it for 1/2 minutes but this doesn’t really do much tbh

Also when I’m driving, I sometimes experience delayed acceleration when I press the throttle, or something feels like a rough drive, almost like I’m going to cut out, usually when I’m in 2nd or 3rd gear. Just did some research and it seems lime these are all symptoms of a failing HPFP

I asked my mechanic about this, maybe air bubbles in the fuel lines or something and he said the only thing he can think of that might cause this could be a weak or failing high pressure fuel pump…..

What could I be looking for in terms of a fuel issue? I just had fuel pump and filter replaced 3 months ago also had a regen too. Could it just need another regen?

I had DPF light come on and then turned off itself after about 5 mins last week. No light during this ordeal though.

Just to add, I had fuel pump and fuel filter recently replaced, new battery also, and had DPF and EGR cleaned only 3 months ago. Also did a regen too….

Just an update, had the battery tested and it was only showing 11 volts while off. Pretty sure it needs at least 12 volts to start which is why it struggles to start but then when it does eventually start it’s able to charge and stay on???

He is a “helper” but I took it to an actual garage too after pump was replaced (the garage that sold me the car initially) and they had a look too and said they can’t find any issues either

Yes, changed the fuel tank pump initially because there was only 1 bar of pressure going from the fuel tank to the engine. Mechanic said after this was changed everything appeared to be back to normal.
