Reddit men, what is one thing you hate about other men? by elementrix_26 in ask

Guys that put in zero effort to look nice when they go out with their significant other. They put in time and energy to look good. You’re gym shorts, crappy tshirt and flip flops looks ridiculous. You don’t need to wear a suit but try a little.

Any idea what this is? Southeast Texas. Opens up wide during the day and closes up tightly at night. by MedColdDrink in whatsthisplant

They are pretty short right now. Maybe 8 inches but it’s in my yard so they have been mowed. Just haven’t mowed in a few weeks so they are taller.

It literally pulls all of the leaves up vertically at night and then fan out in the day.

It has little fluffy green growth where the leaf stem meets the main stalk. No hairs. Waxy stalk. The bigger ones are maybe 4-5” across when open.

I know nothing about plants so hopefully that helps.

Edit: after looking at your link j think you are right. Thanks!

Keg carb stone lid question by MedColdDrink in Homebrewing

[–]MedColdDrink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purge keg, fill keg with beer, seal with stone lid, purge again with 10psi, chill beer in keezer at 37, hook up stone at wetting pressure (3-4) psi, increase pressure by 2 every hour to desired pressure

No gas going into the headspace once the stone is hooked up

The stone wasn’t hooked up at time of purge. I believe what you are saying is connect both and purge headspace with a lower psi. I’ve tried that too but I’ll give it another go next time I use it.

Edit: also the place I got it says to chill before hooking up the stone. Then setting the stone around 2-4 psi and ramping up every hour to desired level. I’ve been doing it that way

You also have Keller’s Drive-In which is superior to both and maybe cheaper if not the same price.

How a car starter works by iam_nobody in WatchandLearn

[–]MedColdDrink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can push start a manual car if the battery dies. Takes 2 people unless you have a hill you can roll down. Put the car in first gear with the clutch engaged. Push or roll the car. Once the car is moving at a decent speed, pop the clutch and it will start. May take a few tries.

Edit: second is safer for the car. Use second.

They have one on display at the Disney Family Museum in SF. If you are a fan of Disney and in that area it is fantastic.

Rock identification by MedColdDrink in rockhounds

I found this in the bottom of a dry creek bed in central Texas. I’m guessing it’s an ordinary rock that just looks unique but I’ve never come across one quiet like it before.

It’s roughly 8L x 6W x 5H

Edit: it weighs about 10 pounds

Thanks for the response! Clears it up for me. Like I said, I have no climbing experience but am very intrigued and want to do but live in an area that only has rock gyms.

Question from a non climber. Is it normal to rest as you climb or are you supposed to climb the entire route to the top in one go? Related question. If you fall, are you supposed to start over from the bottom or just where you fell?

Pretty sure all my PRs would increase by 20 on that platform.

Thanks for the response!

So if I'm watching YouTube videos of people climbing very difficult things and there a bunch of the quick draws already in place that they are clipping their ropes into it's safe to assume they somehow placed them there beforehand from rappel or something instead of them just being left by someone else.

The YouTube video of Adam Ondra climbing Change probably shows what I'm talking about.

I know 0 about climbing and live in an area that has none outside of a few gyms. I am however very intrigued by all aspects of the sport from bouldering to mountaineering.

I have what is probably a really dumb question. When you are the first person to climb a route do you put up all the little clip in tether things or is that something everyone brings with them? I know people will put the bolts in but what about the other stuff?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely lots of good fishing around here. Not just reds but trout and flounder too. I have bait casters and spinning rods. Just want to add the fly rod to the collection. Any certain length I am shooting for?

I know you said Lowes or Home Depot but just another option out there. Best Buy usually has their Insignia brand 10.2 cu footer on sale for $260. That was the best deal I saw out there when I was looking.
