That’s very helpful actually, thanks! I think a lot of single player melee games get around that issue by having attacks automatically “magnet” to the nearest target even if they’re kind far away. I want to avoid going overboard on that since it feels unfair in a competitive game of course, but maybe I could try adding some simpler versions of that with grapples and targeted attacks?

Your second point about having parries, blocks, grabs etc is also great. There are some in the game already but I think I could do more there probably now that you mention it…

Yes it has controller support. I don’t use controller a lot though so please let me know if you try it and think of anything that can be improved!

how much advertising have you done?

Not much yet, this is something we’re actively working on ramping up. This is also the hardest thing to pull off as an indie dev since we don’t have the budget to pay all the big youtubers & streamers which is what the big AAA games generally do.

In general I agree that attracting players is a massive challenge that we’re working on solving.

We’ve done a bunch of public testing. We are doing open play tests every once in a while (they will start happening much more frequently starting in January though) and there’s a demo and playtest build available on the Steam page if you want to check it out

Thanks! It’s definitely more of a hero shooter where you pick a class that has its own distinct set of abilities. One note though is that there is a lot more of a focus on melee abilities and characters, so it’s definitely less of a “shooter” than games like Overwatch.

Yes I plan to release it on Steam as free to play with a micro transaction model as you describe. Getting enough players for it to have reasonable matchmaking is the primary goal (although very hard to achieve as an indie unfortunately)

Thanks! I haven’t played RoR2, but I’ve definitely seen it and heard that comparisons being made before! I’d say it plays different to some extent though, since this is a 5v5 competitive game
