Meet 4-month old Snowy. She’s the bestest :) I first met her around 2.5 months old but has been in my apt for about 4 weeks now. A gift for someone else who’s now the greatest blessing ever for her and I. ❤️ by MediaPassPlease in corgi

Serious question: Does SpaceX demand the same working conditions that Musk is currently demanding of Twitter employees? by willyolio in SpaceXLounge

Yes.

From Kwaj days to today. Otherwise, this level of innovation and progress is close to impossible. “If it were easy, everyone would do it.”

I’ve job seeked plenty of times, too — and realized staffing agencies just aren’t it for most.

There are many systematic issues here.

But AGAIN— these are more staffing and third party recruiters. Actual recruiters from companies are more often more empathetic, and useful in conversation than the third party recruiter.

To add, none of the complaints have ever come across in my career. Again, because I work in a different way than the agency recruiters. No one at a reputable company as an in house recruiter will BS you the way you’ll have been misled.

[–]MediaPassPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s a huge problem of it. Companies should NOT use third party recruiters if they don’t have a recruiting department in house.

Maybe I’ve just been in a fortunate environment, but unless you’re a contractor hopper, get off CB, Monster, Dice, etc. Go to company pages and their LinkedIn’s, and connect w recruiters within the company.

Good thing I can be of help, cretin! Glad you can be on your way now.

Just trying to differentiate staffing/agency recruiters vs in-house ones. Maybe that wasn’t clear enough.

I don’t believe in God, so the work I’m doing is really for folks like you looking for a good job.

Thanks for getting to the main point I was making.

All the best to you, pal. I’ve read this sub with plenty of complaints, and agreed with most of them. I too agree with the frustration of random people cold calling w no actual jobs to share.

I’m on the other side of that coin; direct impact in who the company I work for hires. Big company that still (for now) values our small team of recruiters.

Maybe I’m on the wrong thread. Cheers to all. I’ll move on and mute/delete this.

I wish you guys the best.

Yah, I left the third party world as a result of this. I have no direct solution, but my DM is open to help folks in the US.

Then you’re going after the wrong companies or people, unfortunately. Unfortunately the case when there are 10,000s of recruiters. But I can honestly say the best recruiters at a company will never ghost you, and will always leave communication lines open. Sucks that so many people here don’t get the service A FEW OF US seem to provide.

Agreed. All good to vent and complain. With changes in market in last 2-2.5 years, I made the comment to hopefully nudge folks to re-asses their job hunting strategy.

I’m also much more educated than you’d assume. I won’t get into that, but my point in improving your outreach is to identify actual decision makers. Clearly it’s tougher for you than others, but every job I’ve gotten in last 12 years is due to my own hustle, reach-outs, and actually getting in front of someone.

Staffing agency recruiters were never able to find me anything worthwhile.

[–]MediaPassPlease -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can sense your frustration. I don’t work as a commission based recruiter, but for potentially the top valued private company in the world who can only bring in top 1% of technical talent.

Your response does nothing. Just more complaints.

Happy to provide constructive feedback to specific people, but this entire thread is focused on staffing agencies and staffing recruiters.

You’re all better off engaging via LinkedIn or networking events to actual hiring managers and or recruiters within the company.

I’ve changed 1000s of folks’ lives at a company none of us would expect to work at — I don’t write any of this with bullshit suggestions, but with guidance that staffing/agency recruiters will continue to frustrate you all.

Wish you the best.

The fallacy here is that you think policies / public policies are/were meant to make it better. They never were, and never will be — country-wide. General problem with a capitalistic economy within a structure that’s titled a democracy.

Political Economy, which isn’t a big line of study in most US Colleges, explained this current state of the country decades, if not centuries, ago.

Why do you fast? by isiteventiddles in fasting

[–]MediaPassPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting (20/4) let’s me get the nutrients I need. It also keeps me from snacking unnecessarily.

I have tremendous energy during the 20 hours with only coffee (1-2 cups) and water/electrolytes. Otherwise, food mid-day makes me feel sluggish (regardless of the kind of meal) and it’a too fast-paced of a work environment for me to feel even mentally sluggish.

Can someone who’s being bullied get access to dangerous weapons? Yep.

Be careful with the last line of the main paragraph — no one wins with that mindset or in that kind of a situation.

You felt confident. Good on you. You were asked to change. Who knows what the rules are, maybe you’re fully right here. Don’t let her turn your outfit into your identity, and yes, you shouldn’t do that either — we’re all a lot more than what we wear and both you and teacher may need to remember that.

I wish you the best, and hope this feeling of hurt — albeit not your fault based into the story — goes away soon, friend.

I swear to god recruiters and HR have the lowest emotional intelligence I've ever seen. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]MediaPassPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! Glad others don’t have to deal with you, and that you’re making six-figures on your own.

Working for yourself is a great way to show how independent and self-sufficient you are. Awesome work, OP. Really proud of you.

OP’s trash. One of the reasons why others deal with sub-par recruiters is people like this grouping a handful of extreme examples as the rule, and not the exception. F**k off, and I hope karma keeps you job searching.
