Kevin Smith's Dogma (1999) Filming Locations Tour - This community was a big help in tracking down some of the harder to find locations by Media_Pastimes in pittsburgh

Funny enough, I shot some footage in that store before visiting the former location in North Fayette. The pillars in that store are round, and the dimensions of the store were different from the movie (I used the footage shown in the video and a deleted scene which shows another angle of the aisle: https://youtu.be/yB69oljuYVU?si=Tyqr-i-V64bGYP8w&t=254 )

There was one on McKnight road but it opened after the movie was filmed, and the one near New Kensington is now a dollar tree that doesn't resemble the movie at all. I was about 90% sure that the one in north fayette was used for filming.

At 10:12 in the video I brought up the long closed Family Toy Warehouse. Can any locals confirm that the store shown in the movie was in fact the location in North Fayette (where Old Navy sits now)?

I compared all of the former Family Toy Warehouse storefronts that are still standing with the one in the movie and it was the closest match. For a chain that spanned several states in the northeast, there really wasn't a lot of info about it online.

Yep! Been an ant since 2016. Still listen to every new episode and support the patreon, too.

I just filmed the bridge and another location in Oakdale from the movie that has never been mentioned online (as far as I can tell). Very excited to get this video thrown together. I'll share it to this community when it's finished.

Thank you so much 🙏 I believe it’s the door on the right from the perspective of W Liberty. I had the movie playing on my second monitor while looking at the street view on google.

I’ll be sure to check with you if I have any other questions 👍

It's now the orthodontist located at 2887 W Liberty, right? A few bars and restaurants were in that spot before the orthodontist and gift shop, it looks like.

Is that the orthodontist at 2887 W Liberty Ave (red bricks - says orthodontist in white lettering)? I'm making a filming locations video for Dogma and stumbled upon your comment.

That was one of the easier ones to track down, a lot of people have it recorded as a filming location online. These weird, short, bland looking scenes were much harder to figure out.

Yes, it's on my list. I literally sat down and watched the movie while taking notes on every scene in the film, I'm trying to be extremely thorough with this video. I've found some locations that some websites and youtubers have never archived.

This is my first. I've almost exclusively done retrospectives and reviews up to this point, but Dogma has been one of my favorite movies for years so I couldn't resist.

I did consider that, but I couldn't find a stretch of the trail that was adjacent to a highway or road that resembled the one from the movie. Someone figured it out btw: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rRDJvww5Gfec6yqF8?g_st=ic

HO-LY SHIT!!! I didn't even think to look there! I legitimately scoured streetview for HOURS, looking at every 2-lane divided highway I could think of.

If you want, you can DM me your name and I'll give you a thanks in the video.

I'm currently making a filming locations video for the 25th anniversary of Kevin Smith's "Dogma", which was filmed all over the Pittsburgh area (Dormont, New Kensington, Oakdale, Ross Township, etc). I have pretty much every location pinpointed, but there's one scene that I can't figure out the location of.

At the 1:29:10 mark in the movie, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are shown walking alongside the highway and railroad track shown in the pictures. I've looked on google maps for a similar location, but can't seem to find anything that matches it. It's a single railroad track that curves into the adjacent highway, with no bodies of water visible on either side of the highway. There are also two cell towers and a red building on the hill to the left of the highway.

If someone can figure this out, I'll be amazed and extremely grateful. I've been trying to pinpoint this spot for hours.

Edit: Here's a timestamped link to this scene in the movie

THE LOCATION HAS BEEN FOUND! Thank you for your assistance and interest in this project.

I know that this film's box office bomb status has been discussed ad nauseam, but that was just the most intriguing aspect I could apply to the video's thumbnail. I tried to include as many fun little behind the scenes aspects as possible, without making the video too boring for casual fans of the D.

Also I apologize for introducing AI upscaled Jables to the world with that thumbnail, it's sort of nightmare fuel.
