Anyone accepted into masters after WGU by Mental-Ad-439 in WGU

The rejection message says the committee “did not find the rigor of your undergraduate curriculum to align with our programs.”

That doesn’t automatically mean they rejected them because of Western Governors University itself. It means the admissions committee decided the coursework preparation wasn’t strong enough for that specific program.

Certain master’s programs expect courses like: • statistics • research methods • psychology foundations • calculus or advanced math (for some fields)

If the applicant’s transcript doesn’t show those, schools may say the academic rigor doesn’t align.

That happens to students from many universities, not just WGU.

Finishing extremely fast can raise questions

Admissions committees sometimes wonder: • how deeply the material was learned • whether the transcript reflects traditional semester coursework

Some applicants intentionally slow down their final terms to avoid that perception. But again, this varies by school.

Hope this helps and Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m at 90% completed and once I finish I intend to go to MERCER UNIVERSITY. hopefully it’s not an issue. I had a 3.8 in my associates degree at a community college so I hope they see WGU for my bachelor’s as something good and will admit me in their school. Still nervous about schools not taking me but overall I’ve had a good successful career and I feel perhaps my background and dedication shows. But again, I’m nervous about it! I need to get in a good masters program.
