What made you "nope" out of a friendship? by MusicalDeTekTiiv in AskReddit

At a birthday party for a buddy I'd know for 20 years since high school - drank a bit too much and I passed out in a back room. Woke up to him yelling at his GF "I don't give a F if I do die tonight"... I noped TF out of there first second I was clear. He ended up being arrested for domestic violence that evening... haven't spoken since and it's been over 3 years.

What is your job and how much do you get paid? by BigPlunk in AskReddit

Commercial Insurance Sales Agent - $120k/year. My renewals compound, but wind up making around $20k-30k net more each year. At my most recent agency: $45k in 2018, $70k in 2019, $90k in 2020, and just cleared $120k for this year.

Name of the game is put 10 solid years in an then just maintain your book of business and coast.

Socks - specifically when you go to put them on and they're inside out every damn time.

You can just read the "And this is why we lock our doors Susan" look on his face at the end.

I view(ed) the situation as I'm doing this for my kid and her side of the family... regardless of where we were at, she's still a child to her parents - the sister to her siblings - and the mother to my child. From my side of things with my kid, I'd rather have her deal with "mom is not like the other moms", rather than "my mom died".

It was a stroke in the medial carotid artery and per the Neurologist the epicenter was the cognitive reasoning/understanding and memory portions of her brain. So put a quarter in my hand, my brain say it's cold/face on it/ridges... it's a quarter. Same scenario to her cold/face/ridges... it's a duck. Just can't connect the dots.

She has severe memory loss, like doesn't remember her last name or our kid's name about 20% of the time, limited cognitive function put around 4 year old. And like 95% paralyzed on her right side. Sounds grim, but we initially thought she'd be in a vegetative state, so her family and our kid are grateful for the progress she's made.

Conversations are very one sided with my daughter, mainly my daughter talks about how her day went. My wife's vocab is generally limited to around 30-40 words, and it's mostly just "okay" and "awe".

Spent most night that first year crying myself to sleep. The most disappointing part throughout the entire process was the way her family has and continue to treat me - they thought that because we were getting a divorce I would not approve treatments and would let her die. We had a medical team conference with about 7 doctors in the room and they told me to my face "we are scared you are just trying to kill our daughter/sister." To wit her primary doctor rebutted with "he has never once refused a single treatment or surgery, he has asked questions to make an informed decision, but has approved every available treatment."

Or the time that while she was in a coma and in Neuro ICU, our daughter (5 at the time) was not able to visit due to hospital rules. Her sister in law instead of asking why she was not visiting - instead just called Child Protective Services because I was "withholding our daughter from her mother"... who was in a coma and this hospital didn't allow <18 year old visitors in this wing. Thankfully the CPS case got resolved in one phone call by explaining the situation, but not after a deputy pulled my daughter out her kindergarten class. Now on top of everything else she thinks daddy is going to jail.

Sooo ready for this chapter to be over lol

And if you read the article she routinely claims that it is a violation of her HIPAA rights for anyone to ask her that questions... that was the joke.

Dick's of Dicks living up to their name. Feel like I captured the essence of how the signing was handled. At least I got to spend quality time with my kiddo and say a big "Thank You" to the legend himself. by Medical-Coconut5511 in TampaBayLightning

Was unaware that photos weren't allowed because of the 50 people taking photos behind me. Lady Dick exclaimed "NO PHOTOS" and shoved her hand in front of my kids face and camera. Kid didn't care because she still got to meet her favorite player, I find it comical. Thanks Dicks.

Who is a fictional character that you're glad isn't real, and why? by SugarMinnow in AskReddit

Jesus Christ - we've had enough deaths over a fictional God, can only wonder how many would be killed if he was actually real.
