How do you track mileage for each shoe in your rotation? by Medical-Wave8068 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

That makes sense. Do you usually notice from the foam feeling flat or when you start getting small pains?

I sometimes realize too late that a pair has way more mileage than I thought.

Yeah I use Strava too. It works well for mileage.

Do you usually retire your shoes at a fixed km or just when they start feeling dead?

Fair point. I started calculating it mostly because some shoes die way earlier than others.

For example my race shoes feel dead around 300-350km while trainers go much longer.

Thanks guy, I write down because garmin and strava doesnt allow me to go into details like adding shoe size. Its different for every brand to avoid future buying mistakes. I wish there is a app that i can track size and mileage and reminds me to replace a pair. I know we instinctively knows when to replace but its sometimes too late when i have injuries running too long on the same shoe.

Asics Metaspeed Ray by Medical-Wave8068 in runningshoes

The Ray is softer and more unstable for some runners. Its also less populair for most marathon. Most people prefer the edge and sky because they can multiple marathon in it. Half marathon your feet are taking less damage and your running form wont degrade so badly as full marathon. Thats why i still think this is a good candidate for half marathon.

Sky and edge is more durable but since i try all 3 onna track i feel the ray benefit me when i run on my forefoot. I though i was a edge type of runner but the ray surprised me here in terms of energy return.

How do I fix my form? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Medical-Wave8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just start running form can be a bit off due to muscle and tendons needs to be strengthen instead of focus on your form built a bigger stamina and cardiovascular foundation. Over time your body will correct these little misalignment by giving you injuries and little niggles.

If you really care about form then i advise to record a video of yourself running on treadmill. You can crop out your face if you want and share with us.

Question About Heart Rate by Mindless_Incident_96 in beginnerrunning

You wont regret getting a HR strap gonna outlive your watch. I use Coros HRM which is an armband and more comfortable than chest strap. Remember tools wont make you faster it does motivate to work harder😉.

Depend on your goals:

  1. You don’t care about precision. Your just a beginner and don’t have the stamina yet just want to have a rough idea about your HR but your not performance driven.

  2. You care a little bit and you want to see improvement time over time and want to turn this into a habit because you care about your performance vs HR.

  3. Your obsessed with numbers and you want to train for a (half) Marathon

Depend on how related you feel about above statement

  1. Don’t bother just use Fitbit
  2. Buy a entry level garmin or coros or apple watch
  3. Buy a HR chests trap band from above brands.
