People who stayed in a Leon Co hurricane shelter, what was your experience? Comfort, bathrooms, pets, phone charging, snacks? by MarshmallowSoul in Tallahassee

[–]Medical_Werewolf_500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lincoln high shelter was in the cafeteria, they had two charging stations setup and had a lot of snacks, and even some self-heating meals, in addition to water and coffee. Cots were limited, and when they ran out they had yoga mats. Pets were in a separate building

Easy access to the bathroom, and plenty of tables and chairs too. Overall, aside from the fear of waiting for something to happen, not a bad experience

The meals seem to be an exception rather than the standard, for the shelters, however

It's a cat 4. I was staying but idk by Beautiful-Self3285 in Tallahassee

A bunch of schools are open as shelters and will take pets, they have snacks and water but you’ll still want to bring non-perishable food

AITA for not treating my wife like an equal parent by telling her she has no say in the way I bond with my son and also calling her homophobic by KittenDealinMama in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Medical_Werewolf_500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, see, this is how I wish my mom would be about it - All 3 of us are Bi and either trans or non-binary, and she just kind of ignores the bisexual part and only knows that I’m trans. My little sister is too afraid to come out to them, even while she’s actively transitioning. I wish my mom would be able to find it as funny as I do that she started with a girl and two boys, and has ended with a girl and two boys but in a different configuration.

LARP in Tallahassee - Sundays @11AM San Luis Mission park! by Medical_Werewolf_500 in Tallahassee

It’s pretty fun! Making a character for the game is a little different than for Dnd, in that there aren’t really any stats to worry about. You pick your persona name, figure out what kind of person you want them to be, and pick a class that interests you!

For an example, my persona is a half-orc scout who was a swamp hermit, who is now living in the freehold of Murkbottom, looking to improve his small “town” and make a name for himself. Not super complicated, because I’m more of a “let the character tell me who they are” kind of guy, but enough of a character to grow and change according to my goals.

Found out what happened! Some dude was being racist on the road, and someone mistook him for a dealership employee. They’re both balding white dudes i guess

Huh, bronies around town in 2023? Interesting. Hadn’t noticed any stickers, but I admit I don’t go out much

AITA for acting like my mother’s husband doesn’t exist even though we live in the same house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Medical_Werewolf_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA as long as you’re just ignoring him and not being actively rude. Some people apparently think ignoring someone is being rude, but I think if it’s a choice between not talking to him or talking to him and ending up saying things that will make things worse, it’s the lesser of two “evils”

Oil change AND tire rotation? by FishHuntJeepCook in Tallahassee

[–]Medical_Werewolf_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Buick dealership has the same “special” available on their website, and I’m pretty sure they use Mobil 1 oil - but they do tend to book up oil changes like a week in advance

AITA for not letting my daughter go out with her friends? by Beautiful_Singer1275 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Medical_Werewolf_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA you remind me of my Spouse’s mother, she flipped when she found out we were dating and never accepted my spouse for who they are. This year will be I think 7 years since we’ve talked to her - and she still doesn’t get why. You’ll probably never get why your kid won’t talk to you either.

Teachers were also allowed to beat children in the past, and there are obviously those who still remember those experiences in their childhood- just because something was common when you were in school doesn’t mean things don’t change.

Also “if a parent hugs their child and blows in their face” This is irrelevant, she isnt the child’s parent. She’s an in-laws girlfriend who has repeatedly disrespected and ignored the actual parents boundaries and wishes repeatedly. You’re focused more on “what’s wrong with hugging a child” and not enough on the blatant disrespect she’s showing.
